Let that come out of the billionaire owners pockets
The citizens own no stake in the franchises and see no direct gain so why should they be saddled with wasted taxes? |
Yes! Fuck Bally's. The ads for vote yes were CRAZY! "Dont let the radical Left take away the Chiefs!"
Suburban Jackson County is tired of paying for inner city initiatives and the POS Emmanuel Cleaver does shit to represent the suburban voters. |

Fuck all these fucking owners demanding new or updated stadiums from tax payers… pay it your fucking self.

View Quote You're not thinking about all the seasonal, part-time, minimum wage jobs that stadiums support. At least, that's the way they try to sell it to the taxpayers. |

The people need to build that stadium!
How else will the owners be able to get wealthy? Think of all the TV and advertising deals! You people will have the privilege of buying from us $150 seats and a $40 hot dogs & beer combo, not to mention having 'our' team. So give us the tax money and shut the fuck up. Peasants. |

Public risk, private gain.
"Stadium funding tax" when you rent a car in the surrounding area of Detroit. Goes right to the Illitch family. |
Good.
If owners can afford to pay players millions of dollars, then they can build their own stadium. Why should taxpayers foot the bill? |
Sign of the times where people are sick of being taxed to death directly and indirectly (inflation)

Good. It is amazing at how many times the taxpayers have been screwed over buy all the leagues and stadiums.

Quoted: Good. Fuck paying for that shit by the public. View Quote Nevada legislators just vote it in without any voter input. First the raiders, now some fucking mlb team, saw last nite they are tearing down the Tropicana for the new stadium. I don't give a fuck about vegas or sportsball, but I damn sure resent paying for it. |

Quoted: I like a cold beer and a hot dog at a ball game as much as the next red blooded american but fuck paying for these stadiums. the billionaires that own these teams worth hundreds of millions to billions of dollars can fund it themselves or find their own damn financing. View Quote How do you think they amassed their fortune? |

For people that only occasionally attend a game, they are probably farther ahead traveling to a statium in another city rather than paying the high sales tax. That's assuming they don't work in a business that directly supports the statium.
they will get it built...then they will charge outlandish personal seat licenses just for the privilege of buying your season tickets.....
The Chiefs have 300 million of their own money to spend? Then spend it. You can do a lot of renovation for that much money. You just won't have enough to support all the graft, and that's ok.

Quoted: They wanted to move the Royals stadium into the inner city, which would place all sorts of problems on people wanting to attend. This is also a symptom of east vs west Jackson County, MO. This would shift other auxiliary revenue streams to downtown Kansas City, MO and away from the “good” cities found in east Jackson County. Eastern Jackson County should move forward with splitting to create “Truman County” and take both stadiums away from the county as a result. They have also removed Royals from public access TV viewing, who wants to pay for the stadiums and then have to pay for a streaming TV service to watch the game? Thats nuts. View Quote Oh! As an East JaCo resident, is there groups/petitions etc for this? I loathe the current Jackson county gov't and the KC aspects of it. Would love to see the county split! And yeah, I voted No as well. Let the billionaires buy a new stadium for their millionaires to play sports in. (And moving Royals downtown is absolutely pants on head stupid. The parking and traffic nightmare alone isn't worth all that!) |

That is one thing that does piss me off about the NFL. If they don't get their way with upgraded stadiums, they pout and threaten to leave to another city, who will "Appreciate" them more!

Maybe they should just jack up the cost of parking. I paid $65 to park there last summer….such a deal (yeah, that’s sarcasm).

Quoted: Let me guess they went to move to Las Vegas too View Quote They’ll probably do what the Patriots did. MA didn’t want to give Kraft the money to build Gillette so he entered into negotiations to build a stadium in New Haven, CT, which got MA to cave and give him the cash. The city of New Haven was pissed, though. They sued him for negotiating in bad faith (or something along those lines) because they realized they were duped. |

In ChiCAgo, the owner of the White Sox is talking about A) a new stadium partially funded by taxpayers, or B) moving the team to Nashville at some future point.
He's in his mid 80's, and has told his sons to sell the Sox, and keep the Bulls which they also own. Number one, he pulled the same shit in the late '80's, and got his way. That stadium dates to 1991 and is in good shape. There is really no reason to build another one. The governor at the time got the financing through, and the owner that time used Florida as the boogeyman. Number two, the team sucks out loud, and is in the middle of another rebuild. But don't call it a rebuild. He won't sign the free agents required to compete, and the team even with its lousy history is worth almost $2 billion. He can pay for it himself. The state is already close to broke and so is Chicago. You want to leave, don't let the door hit ya', where the good Lord split ya'. Comically enough, the manager, GM, and quite a few players were formally with the Royals organization. Although the GM did play for the White Sox in his playing days before getting traded to KC. If the miserable owner does move the team, I'll watch the Cardinals or find something else to do. |

Leverage , " you better build us a new stadium or else ".
Home town team until the money dries up , then it's so long , nice knowing you . |

Quoted: Kansas city already taxes a 1% income tax on top of existing sales tax. Maybe they should learn to budget. View Quote KC working residents or people that live outside of KC but work IN KC pay the 1% wage earners tax. Businesses in KC charge an extra 2% sales tax (Convention & Tourism). Sales tax at one of our locations is almost 12%. |
I would sure like to see a new royals ball park, but taxing for it is not cool. KC already taxes too much and spends on complete shit. Crossroads area is good spot.....we moved our shop from there two years ago. Have at it!
Team owners don't want to pay for most of it or own it because that means they're locked in that town and can't bolt for greener pastures.
Does St. Louis still want a football team? |
The owners just need to follow the Las Vegas tax model. Instead of asking the voters to tax themselves to pay for it through a sales tax, ask them to force tourists to pay for it through a hotel occupancy tax.
What's a "fair" tax? A tax that somebody else pays. |
Stadiums NEVER made sense to me. Why do the tax payers foot the bill, pay to get in, and then get raped by concession prices..... while the owners bank hundreds of millions of dollars and fly around in private jets?
Good. Nothing against sports, but the general public shouldn't be taxed for it. The government shouldn't really be involved. It's not a "community good" like a road or sidewalk. Other businesses have to build their locations on their own dime, why should this be different?

Quoted: To be fair, Jackson county is probably the poorest county in the metro. Johnson County wouldn't balk at a 3/8th cent sales tax to keep the stadiums in Jackson county. View Quote Or, too keep them out of Johnson County. lol Occasionally I look for property in Johnson County, but the west end is too close to KC for comfort. My kids think I should move to Grandview or Belton. Clinton is close enough. |

Quoted: Sure, let’s waste billions building a new colosseum , maybe offer free bread, keep people distracted up until we’re actively feeding Christians to lions again, to distract from how bad things are getting all across our society. Then again, the way things are going maybe we could start live streaming rehabilitation 2.0, much more interesting than ball games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLts-sXlLEM View Quote I would lay down decent coin to see Tylenol Jones and Beef Supreme. |

Quoted: Straight up theft from tax payers. The Chiefs alone, have a team evaluation of 4.3 billion dollars. And they want hundreds of millions from tax payers… for what? $14 beers, $200 tickets, etc etc. Yeah go fuck yourself. Cleveland is trying to do the same thing with the browns. Fuck off. View Quote Yeah I live in Clay county (just north of Jackson) but I'd have voted this down also. A MLB stadium in crossroads is stupid. And for my wife and I to attend a Chiefs game is going to be at least $500, for 3.5 hours of football and another 3.5 hours of getting into and out of the parking lot. I hope the Chiefs stay in KC, but honestly I've gotten to witness some of the best football that has ever been played in the last 5 years and if they left now, well...it wouldn't be the end of the world. |
Fuck all that.
Let the ball sport teams & fans maintain what they have, and build a huge, multi use racetrack. Put it allll on the ground…. drag, dirt rally, road course, clay oval, paved oval (both complete with figure 8’s), motorcross. Build a Motorsports Mecca on a few hundred cheap acres, and let the people enjoy something that’s good for something other than a few games per year. |
