Quoted: Quoted: After reading about Claire Chennault's Flying Tigers in China as a child, I would pick the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk. You would not last long. Thanks, the P-40 pilots of the American Volunteer Group developed America's air combat skills. Those pilots went on to develop American air combat doctrine. |

Quoted: Mustang & Spitfire View Quote Spitfire. Now there is another aircraft that I would like to fly. I wonder how many pilots that flew those planes are still around? By saying that, I am not bashing the brave pilots or the classic aircraft that they flew. Many years have gone by for all of the aircraft of the old days and I would love to hear of the stories of old. Maybe we can pass on their legacy to the future generation. Many are gone. I don`t want them to be forgotten. |

It is very detailed, graphic and depressing. Look it up, I got it from the library and paid a late fee. |

Most effective and survivable. Unquestionably the Thunderbolt or Corsair.
For having a working vacation in the middle of a war. The PBY Catalina would be a blast. For the most JFC shit just got real. Flying a B29 as we burn Tokyo to the ground. I saw a grainy short movie of a B29 cockpit from one of those raids showing the fires. It’s comparable to being there for the sack of Rome or when the great Khan burned Baghdad to the ground. Something that you look at and know that things will never be the same again. |
