I couldn't get through the first 10 or so episodes fast enough. The intro music that comes later definitely sets the mood for the show. Just got my girlfriend into it and she agrees that the intro in first 10 sucks.

First episode I saw was China Doll. Maybe episode 2 or 3.
Magnum has a gun in the Chinese guys face and says “ Don’t even think it, nobody’s that fast. “. That episode had me hooked. And have been a die hard fan. |

ye bye, Robin's Nest! Iconic Magnum, P.I. property demolished
WAIMANALO, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - That's a wrap! The iconic Magnum P.I. residence known as the 'Robin's Nest' was demolished over the weekend. The 8,900-square-foot Waimanalo mansion was torn down after a demolition permit was issued for the property last month. Drone video taken over the weekend showed the most of the property in pieces. There are no structures remaining on the site, which has been surrounded with black construction fencing while crews remove the rest of the debris. Plans for the demolition were first made in 2015, when the property was sold for $8.7 million. The historic estate was said to be 'in need of major repair' at the time of the listing. The Magnum P.I. house was built in 1933 and has been a famous landmark in Hawaii. It was also used as a filming location various movies and television shows, including Hawaii-Five-O. The future plans for the property are currently unknown. https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/37914775/bye-bye-robins-nest-iconic-magnum-pi-property-demolished/ |

I always thought the lot was much bigger. It really shows what mature plantings and camera angles can do.
Sad news. |

2 pages and no love for the Rockford Files song.
It's intersting as you look at the shows we grew up with verses the shows on today. Guys (mostly portrayed as veterans) with guns, tough vehicles and beers at the end of the day in a life style that fought crime for the common man/woman. That's a stark contrast to a group of Friends living in NYC or Captain Planet P |

One of my favorite shows, didn't know the pilot had such a crappy song, also no bikini butt.

I've been watching it on Amazon Prime during the virus lockdown. I caught the early theme as well, although the very first episode (Don't eat the snow in Hawaii part 1) apparently ran with the well known theme, at least on Prime. Part 2 has the not as good one though.

It's sad how bad most TV shows are now in comparison to the 1980s. We had:
Fall Guy Rip Tide Magnum PI Simon & Simon Tour of Duty Hardcastle & McCormick A-Team Miami Vice Plus a host of other "action" shows that were basically harmless. |
|
I own the first season and rented seasons two through five from Netflix. That's all they have guess I'll have to buy the remaining seasons off Amazon

Quoted: Sounds like some Jimmy Buffet song. View Quote They wish(ed) that they were that well-known and good: "Thrasher Brothers (1948-1996)History The Thrasher Brothers (Jim Thrasher, Buddy Thrasher, and Joe Thrasher) performed on the Wally Fowler Gospel Sing at the Grand Ole Opry when they were children in 1948. Five years later, they won Ted Mack's National Talent Show and subsequently toured with Mack's group for two years. From 1967 to 1976, the Thrasher Brothers produced a television show called America Sings. The gospel classic One Day At A Time was one of their top tunes during this time period. After some success on the secular charts with their patriotic song "A Message To Khomeini," the Thrasher Brothers released a total of two albums and 12 singles on the secular pop and country MCA Records label. Their most successful single was "Still The One" which peaked at number sixty on the charts. They were also known for singing the theme song for the television show Simon And Simon from 1981 until 1982, but they weren't exactly burning up the charts in the Country genre. The Thrasher Brothers returned to gospel music until retiring in 1986...." http://sghistory.com/index.php?n=T.ThrasherBrothers |

In 1988 while I was stationed in HI, I got to meet Tom Selleck and was (along with several members of my platoon) in a Magnum PI episode. It was a whole lotta fun. A great guy. Very down to earth. Ate lunch with us both days were filming in Diamond Head.
Because I was a grunt, I was't able to grow my 'stache out until a couple of years later when I started flying. Attached File |
