Quoted: Chocolate Moon Pie and a Cheer Wine was the hot ticket back during my childhood years in the NC/VA state line area. The alternate approved snack was a Coke with peanuts, although a heathen movement was rising in town that put the peanuts into a Mt Dew, which wasn't bad either. Right now I think I could go for any of the combinations mentioned in this thread. But a Moon Pie and Cheer Wine sounds really good right now. https://southerncomfortlife.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/moon-pie-cheer-wine.jpg?w=584&h=776 View Quote |

I brought a box of moon pies and a two liter of RC cola to work last month. Shared it with my team. They all reacted differently, but I feel it was overall a positive.

"R-O-C" cola is the proper pronunciation...growing up in Alabama, there was a local outdoors show called the Sportsman's Friend or something like that...they sat on a fake cabin porch and talked hunting and fishing. Then mid-way through the show, the host would slide over a cooler and they would enjoy a moon-pie and RC cola.

A woman from New York who had lived in our small Texas Panhandle town for over 10 years one day declared herself Southern.
I said, "we will see". I gave her the quintessential Southern snack-an RC Cola and a Moon Pie. Made her sick. "Nope, you're NOT Southern"! |

That's funny because Double Cola and Moon Pie are both headquartered in Chattanooga TN, (or at least Double Cola used to be back in the 80's). I haven't had a DC in 35 years. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Banana Moon Pie with a real sugar Dublin Dr Pepper. It's a shame the Dublin plant had to quit making DP.

Salted Peanuts go in Coke not Pepsi
Moonpies go well with just about anything, especially good with coffee while hunting My FIL worked in an RC plant in AL back in the day, said they came off the line or were stored at 34 degrees iirc and that was the only way he would drink them. |

Now I want some Royal Crown Cola, probably haven't had any in 20 years.

Used to kind of be a tradition after running section IV of the Chattooga, stop at the little store there at the Tugalo takeout and grab a Moon Pie and an RC or a Cheerwine. Corn syrup ruined all of them. The store is gone too.

View Quote I've finally seen Moonpies up here at a store this year. I don't have to go to TN to have one anymore. |

I know it's a southern thing, but is there really anything better than a double-decker Moon Pie? God's gift to snack cakes. I like both Chocolate and Banana...RC is good too for a change. Man, I love Moon Pies.... http://leftatthefork.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/RC-and-Moon-Pie.jpg View Quote |

If I am drinking a cola from the big companies I prefer rc, then pepsi, then coke. I really like virgils and Sprecher cola over any of the top large companies.

I typically despise marshmallows, but a moonpie is an exception. Favorite way to eat it is a quick microwave and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, preferably Blue Bell. View Quote Attached File |

Quoted: Marshmallows are nasty, but tolerable with rice krispies. Frozen are extra gooder. I don’t think they even sell RC cola here so I go with ice cold milk. https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/79749/030385AD-E29D-47C6-8BE5-03CD32D99EEE_jpeg-1133325.JPG View Quote |

Around here, just mentioning a RC Cola and a Moonpie in the same sentence will get you branded as a racist.
Something like racial stereotypes akin to fried chicken, watermelon, and grape anything. |

Back when I had a Harley Sportster, I found that a Moon Pie and a Doctor Pepper would carry me about 80 miles. At that point, I had to pee, refuel, and have another Moon Pie and a DP.
