Quoted: There are people who don't believe they'll ever be out in the dark, or in a dark building, and prefer the no-rail aesthetic. And for what are basically competition only/range toys/collectors pieces I can see the reason. But I still firmly believe that defensive firearms should all have lights. Just like rifles and shotguns should have slings and handguns should have holsters. View Quote Pretty much. Was just looking at some Sig 229's. No rails. Dumb. |

Quoted: Quoted: The fact major pistol manufacturers are still making pistols without a rail to mount a light amazes me. Right? Ruger put their first light rail on a pistol in like 1996, that was really innovative at the time. It became standard on Glocks in 2000 when they went to the gen 3's. Lots of other companies soon followed. |

Quoted: I agree, but mag fed shotguns are fun. I wouldn't pick one first for SD but if that's all I had I think I could be doing worse than a good mag fed version https://zenphotos.net/zenphotos/file/Online/svd/vepr12/Vepr12_Saiga12_Left01.JPG View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: IMO, a properly set up shotgun can be very useful. But they have an extremely limited role, and the cost to get one set up properly is more than I care to put into one when my AR carbine will do the job. I'm also of the opinion that the best shotgun reload is another gun, because fuck all that. https://zenphotos.net/zenphotos/file/Online/svd/vepr12/Vepr12_Saiga12_Left01.JPG Mag fed definitely changes the equation some, but I'm mostly ignorant on those; I'm aware of them but the majority of the ones I've shot have either been $2k+ custom Tromix whatevers or jammomatic POSs. I'd probably set up a braced shockwave with a streamlight forend if all my other bases were covered, but for quite a while that'll be going towards nightvision/lasers/illum/accessories, and maybe once I have duals, a COTI, and my guns set up well I'll revisit them. |

Looks like my preban MA guns and mags are worth 3 to 4x what I paid for them.
Got a bunch of them through Teeli so I will probably just sell them for what I paid to help other people stuck in MA. |

Wait.
Could I just put my gen5 G19 slide on my gen4 G34 frame? Or.....just buy a complete 19 slide for the G34? Hmm. |

You could just buy a G45/G19x frame for your G19 slide. The barrel interface/locking block is also different between Gen 1-4 G17/34s and Gen 1-5 G19s. I believe they switched them all to the G19 pattern for Gen 5, but would do some research before trying to assemble them. |

I really enjoy the irony (that has to be intentional) that the Glock 40 is a 10mm and the Glock 45 is a 9mm

View Quote While this is laudable, the issue with selling at significantly below market rate is that it attracts scalpers who will just buy and flip for the profit. But I'm sure it would mean the world to a younger guy who never thought he'd be able to afford whatever it is. |

Oh Best Tech Forumtm, I come before you to ask an interesting question.
If I were to be interested in an alloy framed handgun with a rail light and red dot capable, what would be the best options? CZ? Sig? Something else? |

Had a Glock 19 gen 4 MOS that I cut the grip shorter to accept Glock 26 mags, and bought a Glock 45 frame that would take the G19MOS slide and Glock 17 magazines. Attached File So now, depending on what I'm wearing I can use the same slide and light on either a compact, easily concealable G26 grip length or a full size G17 length grip. And either way I can carry the same 24rd spare mag. |

I keep a shotgun for HD because I've had more encounters with animals in the chicken pen than people breaking in the house.
So I'm that guy that keeps #4 shot turkey loads and hope it's dual purpose enough |
