A 750 lb Coastal Carolina bear should do the trick or the equally dangerous 135 lb methbilly in the backwoods of North Georgia or West Virginia.

I read that as EAST of the Mississippi.

I also did and thought either big bubba southern black bears or cranky Mainiac mooses.

People.

Most wild four legged and slithery critters, east or west of the Mississippi, don't want to bother you. And most of the domesticated kinds that you might run into, may just want you to feed them or play. Most, wild or otherwise, are pretty predictable.

People, on the other hand... People are unpredictable. That makes them dangerous.

Probably a god crazed fundy thinking your trying to steal one of his wives.

I did just get a 21 and a chest rig for it for scouting and general goofing off in the woods.  I still may get a 20 just because I want a 10mm.

I've seen grizzlies; been close enough to feel the ground shaking under foot from grizzlies; seen mountain lion tracks; been 8 feet from a moose that was very interested in what I was cooking; I've run towards black bears to scare them away; even walked into a bull elk, full on Mr Fucking Magoo style; and seen some surprisingly big rabbits; also had someone swear up and down that he saw a wolf walk within an arm span of my head while I was sleeping one night; been overrun by coyotes, the two legged ones.

But, the animals that have, so far, posed the greatest danger to me west of the Mississippi, have been a really rare moth and a rattlesnake.

Oh, and a fucking marmot who stole my fucking Bic lighter in the middle of the night.  Asshole.  And, before someone says, "should have had a backup," that was my backup.  Might have been a pika.  Could have been a weasel.  But, I'm calling it a marmot.  Even though whatever it was seemed way smaller than a marmot when it was conducting the nighttime raids.

If you don't have a 10mm you are going to die of pusification.

Just kidding.

You are most likely to die of heart failure, cancer is the next likely option.

Just an observation.

If you wouldn't hunt any of those animals with a 10mm, why would you carry a 10mm?
