I figured Miami and Orlando. If the space center gets nuked, I'm fucked. Well that map is completely made up so... Hit the fruit stands between Medford and Grants Pass, Oregon. Skip the 173rd Fighter Wing in Klamath Falls. Seems legit. |

Quoted: I’m in between Tyndall, Eglin, and Hurlburt. I doubt I’d even know it happened. View Quote ehh, mostly training bases, not that important in a nuclear war, are you within 5 miles of them? Not sure why everyone loves to explain how where they live is such a big deal. I work on an air force base and I doubt I'd know there was a nuclear war going on until I looked at my phone and checked the news. |

If they start nuking one stoplight towns, they are getting desperate.

I die.
Unless it happens on a weekend when I'm at the lake house. |

I work 4 miles from Macdill AFB. I'm insta-toast if the nukes start flying during the work day.

If my city gets nuked, I'm dead.
If I'm not dead after a nuclear exchange I'll probably be dead soon after. A complete breakdown of society with no hope of aid or rescue coming does not seem very promising. |

i think people overestimate the effect of a nuclear weapon....by a lot

Nuclear War Survival Skills
Read an earlier version of this when I was 13, during the cold war, living next to a prime target. |

I live within 10 miles of MAFB. I won't be living in Fallout 5, that's for certain.
|
|
I live within 7 miles of selfridge ANG base and within 5 miles of a tank factory.
I figure I’m fucked. |

Pretty sure I'm far enough from any major population center for it to matter too much
Just means I gotta suffer longer while all the other lucky SOBs die quickly |

Quoted: Military bases, critical infrastructure like power plants and dams, and cities are what I imagine the targets would be. View Quote Nope. Nuclear treaties have reduced the number of warheads for both the US and Russia. Each nation has enough to deter a first strike and knock out the nuclear weapons of the other, but not enough to target non nuclear military targets or civilian centers. |

Quoted: So you’ll be fine? What nuke has a 20 mile radius? I can believe people still believe 1980s era hysteria, but dang if these threads aren’t common. Don’t take that as a slam on you mjohn, just a vent on the nuke craziness around here lately. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: I live 20 miles from DC.... so..... Quoted: Same here, and kinda same outlook. We can't let it happen for the future - children don't deserve it. For God's sake, the animals don't deserve it. But God forbid if it happened, I think it would be lights out pretty quick, regardless of the apocalypse fantasies GD loves to entertain. View Quote Couldn't agree more. Those that think they will survive. Best for your future experiences. |

Nuclear war will be a reality. Most of the smart people will survive. People will be amazed at how inconsequential it really is.

It would have to be one massive nuke in order to affect me directly.
