A commissioned a reproduction painting of a famous work I like.
Its still in the shipping tube. Not even sure if it's still good. |

Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 in .40 S&W.
The trigger in it is absolutely atrocious. I should've bought another Glock in .40 but the S&W was on sale. But I absolutely hate the S&W; I need to replace the trigger at some point. |

It is interesting to see different folks' definition of "expensive".

Honestly I’m having trouble thinking of something expensive that I regret. Usually it’s the cheap compromise that I regret. Like I have no regrets about the expensive lenses that I have, but I really regret the $800 shitty travel lens that I got before getting the better glass. Waste of money.

My 1st house. Got as a foreclosure, bought a new car the next month, got laid off 3 months later and couldn’t find stable work. Ended up dumping the last of my savings to finish the remodel and thankfully sold it for about a 100% profit, but damn was that f’n stressful. I do not like risk and almost being homeless.
Edit: I know my parents made some realllly stupid purchases like buying 20 acres of land in 2008 right before all the real estate prices went to crap. Last I checked, the comps are 1/4 of what they paid still. |

It was a lease but my 2014 Infiniti Q50S AWD Hybrid. Thing wound up being a gigantic pile of shit. The wife refused to drive the Infiniti because she was scared of getting stranded. I wound up rage quitting it ~3 months after I started the lease it by trading it in on a 2014 Jetta TDI about 2 months before dieselgate broke . I wound up breaking even on the whole deal due to the buyback extra money VW paid out though.

Triumph tr-7 I bought in college when I had NO money to spare. It literally died due to hitting a rain puddle on the way home from the purchase! Took 20 minutes to get it restarted. It sat more often than it ran. My girlfriend and I scoured every junk yard in S. Florida for parts to keep it going. Looked great as a driveway ornament.
On the good side the girlfriend who helped me fix everything on the car over two years was to become my wife! My uncle pulled me aside one day after she helped me redo the exhaust system and said: ' Not many girls will spend all Saturday under a car they never get to ride anywhere in. ' Really made me think! |

White Castle belly bombers after taking pepto bismol
The question of what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object was answered in my guts that day. Fortunately I’ve always made pretty good financial decisions - probably due to researching everything to death. If I had to answer this question realistically though, I’d say a .308 AR. I just had no practical use for it, never shot it more than 25 yards at an indoor range, so I sold it. Fortunately only probably lost $500 so it could have been worse. |

Soda Stream back in 2011. The refill cylinders were outrageous and the soda wasn't as good as inexpensive store brands.

IR Hunter MKII thermal scope. Paid a lot and then finally sold it here for less than half that after a couple years. It is a great scope, and I shot quite a few hogs and a couple deer (during legal hours) with it, but when the manufacturer refused to provide any kind of promised SW updates without a $900 upgrade to the MK III, I sold it. Full disclosure: I also needed money for a fishing boat, but the SW thing pissed me off...

Not too expensive, but several guns/gun stuff in my safe right now, including;
Glock 21 SF, throws brass in my face Browning BL-22 Maple, fun to plink with, but meh Ruger 10/22, same as the BL-22 Ruger Mini 14, Walmart closeout, cheap, just don't need it Daniel Defense AR, just another AR Steyr AUG M1, cool, but expensive and meh to shoot Trijicon TA-44, fucker has broken itself sitting in the safe and untouched Almost every car I have bought, not for being a POS, just for being expensive and the new wears off in about a week every time. Didn't buy it, but was left my house in a will. Feel obligated to keep it as it was my Great Grandfathers, but EVERYTHING needs done to it. |

Back in 2000, a Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Marshall Half Stack. For a first guitar. That I played for a week. It sat for two years before I got rid of it.

View Quote Even with the cost of the supplies I am sure it paid for itself many times over. Don't really drink soda anymore, I think we gave it away. As far as expensive regrets. We bought a new offroad truck a few weeks ago. Starting to dig into it a bit and realized the previous owner cut a few corners on the build, feels like we overpaid for it by a few grand. Like the truck, will keep it, just feel like it should have been a cheaper purchase (did get it for $3k less then asking but still). ETA: Made a 6 figure mistake in building the new shop. Not the shop itself, just the contractor. Still have lawyers hashing that shit out. |

As a former M3 owner, I don't regret any bit of owning that amazing machine. M3s are fucking awesome cars. I rate the 911 higher, but after that I'm an M car man. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

My first house. 180k, bought it in March, wife told me in June she wanted a divorce. I only bought it because she she really loved it, and I was tired of renting. So needless to say, I still have a house I don't like, but can't sell it yet.

Nice. I have a Comp M4 now, don't regret it one bit :) I'll contribute now though with: Lexus RC series coupe. Looked great, sounded great, but man was it a pig compared to its peers. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I finally got fed up with it entirely this year and am currently trying to find something else. |

a $6000 hot tub. wife and I cant agree on a temp, and I'm too lazy to fuck with chemicals constantly. so I'm making payments on it and its under a tarp empty.

Any piece of heavy equipment I’ve ever bought
They’re all money pits in one way or another. Although my current skid has been more useful than any other due to the projects I’ve got done with it at my new house. |

RC cars.
My son just never really got into them. I'm afraid to really itemize what I've spent. Too much on anything that just takes up space |

My Snap-On tool box trumps most car regrets listed, and some house purchases.

My current home, purchased with unknown title issues - undisclosed easement issues/adverse possession of .65 acres. Scumbag neighbors (previous owners) who created said title issues. Illegally modified septic system ( presumably by same scumbag neighbors).
I hope I'll be made whole by title insurance eventually but at this point it's going to require me suing both my scumbag neighbors and the title insurance company to get this unfucked and be able to sell or refi the house. Already $15k deep in lawyers and Ive gotten no where other the clarifying the neighbors are scumbags. |

Microtech OTF knife, had high hopes, it’s pretty but doesn’t live up to the hype in regards to its action.

Paintball. I went with a group of friends and had the most fun I’d had in years. I borrowed their extra equipment. By the next weekend I had all my own equipment. I chased having the best setup for years but really only played 5-6 times a year. Probably closer to 2-3. I added up what I had and realized it was close to $3K in crap I never used. I sold it all over the course of 6 months and maybe MAYBE got $800.

Hemi motor for my Dodge Durango. In the end it cost me than the thing is worth. I should have just sold it to Pick-N-Pull.
