It’s a neodymium magnet for a previously installed wireless door contact that belongs to a previously installed alarm. They forgot the magnet when they moved out.

This, but usually the magnet is on the door and the magnetic switch on the frame.

Higher end alarm system sensors are usually recessed and hidden. Look for a hole on the top edge of the door. This one has a 1/4" x 1" rod.

I have been drunk in my shop and have glued random shit to random shit because my brain shut off and I had lost the top to my glue bottle or had excess glue on the table.

with the door open feel at the top of the door where the magnet would move by it. is there something inside the core of the door?  im going to guess its a redneck alarm, to warn you when your girlfriend is going to ruin your porn endeavors.

That's probably a half assed redneck alarm sensor.

Most are magnetically actuated.

Looks like clear coat on the door is ripped up right below it making me think the sensor was double sided taped to the door.

I think they started putting the wireless contacts on the door since it's bigger and easier to find. The lazy installers would just use the double stick tape to put them up. So wind blows the door shut, the magnet goes flying and gets stuck somewhere in the bottom of the oven across the room. Lost.

I always just used the included screws so that didn't happen.
