A.  One of my best buds was David R.  His older sister, Robin, was 2 years older, a hot-body big-chested bitter face … AND she drove a Trans Am: eagle decals, mags, the whole bit.

B. Gerald K. was raised by a single mom. She must have been an accounting partner or something, because Gerald drove a Monte Carlo with T-tops.  AND he dated Donna L., who had Robin’s chest but was actually pretty.

C.  Danny M.’s daddy restored a mid-50’s Chevrolet Apache (‘55?).  It had the wrap-around rear window, Hurst shifter, and a metal flake brown paint job.  Baby moon mags.  Danny totaled it and walked away about 6 months later.

D.  Doyle W.’s daddy was #2 at the local independent bank.  Doyle changed new cars about every 3 months.  I don’t know if they were repo’s or what.

E.  Kim A. was also 2 years older, and she drove a green … Monte Carlo?  LeMans?  I don’t remember, I was too busy climbing out of my window at 11 pm to go parking with her.  She toyed with me the summer after she graduated, b/f she left for school.  But to OP’s point, it was a GREAT fucking car!

Class of ‘90 checking in….

I’m going to have to say Grand National as well.

Girl I dated had a brand new 5.0 Mustang GT convertible.   Also an Eagle Talon TSI awd, which was a fast damn car !

Friend had a ‘87 Chevy Silverado with the first year fuel injection.   It was a sweet truck for that time.

Nothing fancy around here, rural kids all driv pickup trucks and the girls all had little coupes and sedans. No foreign cars whatsoever except one BMW that a girl's boyfriend was leasing for her. Not surprisingly, they broke up shortly after. Derp.

Class of 1999. I drove my 1968 Camaro Z/28 senior year. There was another kid that had a Hemi Charger that he also occasionally drove to school. Neither of our cars were original. Mine was an original Z, but I did not have any of the original drivetrain. His was a hemi clone.

Everyone else had "tuned" Hondas.

1969 metallic blue Camaro, license plate MYTFYN. Owner was a BEAUTIFUL blonde cheerleader who could also swing a wrench. Car was perfectly customized for the mid 80s. No, I never had a chance at her, way outa my league.

Sometime between 91 and 95, a girl in my class had a new black t bird with the supercharged engine.  It was a lemon and broke down fairly often.  When it was in the shop, her dad told her to drive his 1966 Pontiac GTO.  It wasn't perfect by any means.  It had rust bubbling the paint around the back glass, but it was still the coolest thing in the parking lot.

I had a decent 1989 S10 blazer 2 door 4x4.  It wasn't very cool, but it was a good vehicle.  If I didn't have such bad luck, I would have been driving a black cj7 Laredo. We missed it by 15 minutes.

Years later, I still have shit luck.

I remember in school my cousin had some sort of 80's piece of shit hatchback, but it actually had a v8 with rwd.
Thing was loud as all fuck, he tried fixing an exhaust leak, but snapped all the studs and ended up just leaving it "open heads". When riding in it after, it literally sounded like the engine was inside the cabin, since there wasn't any sound dampening on the firewall. He'd drive it through the parking lot and it would shut down classes from everyone laughing so hard.

power steering was out, no heat/ac, smelled like puke and weed smoke, and it was the classic faded metallic piss green color of that era. I can't think of a worse car from our early years.

Dino... he had a early 70s Oldsmobile Cutlass.

He was a good dude too. I had the sleeper in the lot. 76 Plymouth Grand Fury, a retired state trooper car. 200 bucks at state auction. 99 bucks painted at Earls!

440 interceptor, pursuit radials, lead still in the doors. It wasn't much off the line but rolling off at 60... you weren't gonna catch me.

Class of 08,

I'd say it was my beautiful 1987 guards red 944 turbo on Fuchs but it didn't even make it on the year books cool cars page. Uncultured swine.

Second would have to be the 1965 Mustang notchback with a 289 4v a classmate restored with his dad.

Another classmate had a pink Honda Del Sol (that I so lovingly towed to the gas station after it ran empty in the middle of the road with the aforementioned 944 turbo and earned a scratched rear bumper cover in return)

Everything else was just random hand me downs from patients or used 90s eco boxes.

My HS girlfriend had her fathers Datsun 240Z. It was orange and everything. Just awesome. Yes, he was a test pilot.

We had a collection of convertibles, mine was an MG Midget. So, really not a crappy parking lot.

Unfortunately, just one year after HS I had a Porsche 944. It was black. Interestingly, when I went back to visit, one of the teachers had a 944 in white.
I pulled in and she was there, and said our cars should have babies.

I was too young and stupid to understand that I could have banged her…. She was cute.

19 YO’s driving Porsche’s in SoCal in the 80’s… everyone thought I was dealing coke.
Wasn’t. Just was making good money, and bought the car from a guy who couldn’t drive anymore from the injuries he received that allowed him to buy the 944…

He did have a coke habit, but he’d also lost an inch from his femur and his pelvis wasn’t structurally sound… so, I guess drug use did factor into it at some level.
Great car, but I got pulled over A LOT.
The MG was also great. Total pussy magnet. Fun as hell.

I went to a small rural school K-12, class of 2009, there were a lot of cool cars through the years.

1970 Z28
2 brothers had a 1969 Nova SS and 1971 C10 Cheyenne Super
Kid in my classes older brother had a Saleen Mustang and a mint Iroc-Z
2 cousins had brand new 2000ish WS6 Trans Ams, one black one silver
One kid had several, a 1950 Chevy pickup, 1970 Plymouth Scamp, and a 1978 Aspen R/T
1966 Mustang coupe, 289 on Cragar S/Ss
1976 Corvette, he was a close friend and would occasionally drive his dad's 1971 Chevelle SS convertible
Farming community so there were a ton of super clean 70s-90s pickups
I had a 1973 International 1210 4x4 I started in, when gas got expensive I drove a 1958 MGA coupe for a while (my dad drove the same car to high school), my senior year I got a pretty nice 1996 Z28 with a 6 speed, then I bought cheap a 1974 International Scout that had a mild 440 Chrysler swapped in, it was a riot. Still have all of them.

My Ford LTD station wagon was not the coolest car....... Until I had a girlfriend who was a cheerleader and had a lot of good looking friends.  And she decided that I should be the one to drive all of her friends around for our last couple months of school, because my car would fit 10 people or whatever.

Wasn't a big deal but I remember pulling up alongside some dude in his 20s in a new Camaro. He looked over and kinda sneered at me when he saw the POS station wagon. Then did a double take when he saw that it was full of hot chicks.

There were a number of cool cars, I graduated HS in 1976 and we had some Plymouth Dusters with the 340 engine, a lot of 68-75 Camaros and some real nice trucks.  A friend had a 1973 Bronco and that is what got me hooked on Broncos

'62 Impala Super Sport, 4 speed, dual-quad, 409. Early '60s. His father owned a couple of Sunoco stations.

Always envied him until 1970 when I got an SS that would eclipse that and pretty much anything else.

The best car of my years of high school(70’s) was a kid who had a 1956 Chevy with an all chromed out drag engine, diamond tuck and roll, candy apple red, American mags. It was like a show car out of a magazine. Before he graduated, he was sent to state prison for being a big time drug dealer in the county.

I still get a little irritated when I think about this one.

One kid was kind of a spoiled prick.

Dad bought him a real 60's Shelby GT350. White with the blue stripe, knock off hub wheels, etc..

Absolutely gorgeous car.

This was high school in the mid 90's too and the GT350 was not cheap.

A few months later I walk by it in the parking lot.

Dirty, dents, McDonalds and other fast food wrappers all over the floor, like fries on the floor and passenger seat, stains on the seats, etc...

And worst of all, he had cut the vertical shelf behind the rear seats to stuff in 2 10" subwoofers.

Looked like he used a hacksaw to cut the holes too. A bunch of gaps and off center.

Broke my heart.

I couldn't care less he was given the car, it was just the fact he had zero respect for it.

Yeah, people given handouts never respect it.
For me, 289 HiPo Mustang
A few years after that, it was all the cars many drool over (and pay 6 figures for ) now - Mustangs, 'Cudas, Chevelles, Camaros, Firebirds, GTOs, etc.
Funny thing is, most of the big blocks did not last long.   The kids were revving them up like small blocks, and the big blocks did not like that.   I remember seeing many that had come with a big block, but were then sporting a small block.
And late 50s Chevys - especially '57 - with all sorts of engines.
Oh, those engine bays back in the day.......

One spoiled brat had a mid 80's red Lamborghini Countach!
He was a jerk wagon!

Another cool guy had a beautiful white 1968 Camero SS. And he took great care of it because he put a lot of blood sweat and tears into that car!

A light green 1969 Mustang (Fastback if I remember correctly). Every single time I hear an REO Speedwagon song, to this very day, I think of that car!

A brand new 1984 or 86 black Mustang GT Boss with the 305ci (or maybe it was a 350ci). Either way, he slayed a lot of tail with that car. And it helped that he was the good looking football stud in the school.

A 1978 black Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am. But I remember that it had the big 6.6 liter engine! His daddy owned a Pontiac dealership though. I think he wrapped it around a telephone pole some years later.
