I see it all the time at the base gym.  And with a lot of blue collar workers.  Though a lot of the later prefer any one of those insulated jugs.  Probably <$15 at Walmart.

Depends on how much water you go through.  I just take a small, 16oz bottle to the gym, and drink out of a 1 liter water bottle, some kind of metal, the rest of the day.  But then I buy the 16oz bottles several cases at a time, and prefer the smaller size.  Not to mention the grocery store 1 gallon jugs don't have lids that close very tightly.  And I sit at a desk most of the day.  But I stash those little bottles all over my house to encourage myself to drink.

The large bladder style are a pain in the ass to keep sanitized, but the best way I've found to stay hydrated when I'm out hiking.  Just out with a vehicle, large bottles are the way to go.
