Too hard to choose, depends on my mood.
Quiet Man The Searchers The Shootist Honorable mention to Stagecoach, The Green Berets, True Grit and the Cavalry Trilogy. Unfortunately this list leaves out some other really good ones. |

El Dorado. It was the first JW movie I saw, saw it with my papa.
McClintok is a very very close second. |

I haven't seen, "The Wake of the Red Witch" mentioned so i thought i'd throw that one out there.
One of the few movies where he dies in the end. |

There are two outstanding John Wayne movies: Red River and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.
The Searchers would get an Honorable Mention. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is considered by many critics nowadays to be the best western ever made. John Ford got it right. John Wayne's acting in that movie was significantly above what he did in other movies. "This is the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend." |

Always loved Green Barret's, but grew up with Big Jake practically on repeat.

Doesn't he just play John Wayne in all his movies?
Not really a fan of his work, but I don't care if others like him. |
