You can't have liberty if you extend it to people who would misuse it. That's what got us into the messes we're in.

Each person has liberties by virtue of their existence, not because you grant them based upon their ideology.  Your mistake is that you believe you are "granting" anyone anything. That's how tyrants think.

How do we prevent liberty from being misused?

Simple.  If you vote for any law that infringes on my liberties, you get sent to North Korea.  And so do the politicians who crafted the law.

Accountability and consequences for politicians would be nice.

Naw.  Start by reading the DOI and understanding the intentions of the FF.  Then understand that the Constitution is simply the legal framework that was created to support the DOI.  Then start with line 1 of the Constitution and proceed with your disbanding plans.

Plot twist:  What if every registered voter was entered into a 'government office selective service' draft system???

Every Federal, State, and Local government office, including judges, would be filled from the draft pool.  At the end of the term, the registered voters would then vote on how the draftee followed the constitution.  The options would be "faithfully carried out the duties of the office to which appointed", "failed in the duties of the office", or "knowingly caused great harm to the citizens and/or institutions of the country".  The results of the vote would determine if the draftee could retain the salary and benefits provided by the office, or if they should then face a trial by jury in court.  The judgments could range from fines and/or imprisonment to death.  The court would be REQUIRED to inform the jury of their right to nullification.

If you don't want to get drafted, then don't register to vote.
If you are registered and "fail to appear", then arrest warrants are issued.

It depends on how you define a "misuse" of liberty. If it's infringing on another person's liberty, then Hammurabi figured that one out long ago. If it's having ideas that you don't like, then you have no recourse without impermissible violating someone else's liberty. That's the reason there is a legal difference between thought and action.

i would create a free online college.  people could contribute classes to it and get paid.  i would undo every existing executive order including the one that created the epa.  i would eliminate as many federal jobs and institutions as possible.  i would veto all new laws except those that remove old laws.  i would do some other things that i wouldn't reveal before doing.

Oh, I want to add one to mine: Everyone is subject to the same laws. No special treatment, bargaining, friendly courts, etc.

A crime is a crime no matter where it is. Truly even, fair justice for all.

I would freeze epa regulations for all forms of emissions at 2004 levels. I would disband the FBI and justice department. End welfare and section 8 housing and food stamps. Fair tax and reduce the IRS by 75% . Term limits for all elected officials. No government unions. Fire 50% of middle management postal workers. Border wall with deadly options in play. Reduce h1b to damn near zero. End government backing of student loans.
