Also, not enough technical gear. I would much rather have good softshells, gortex etc from OR or Arc than any "combat uniform". Keep doing you though, bro. Here is a good article on the PCU system: https://www.itstactical.com/gearcom/apparel/comprehensive-guide-protective-combat-uniform/ I can confirm the PCU is actually pretty good. I decided to take mid-tour leave to Norway to visit wife and her family on my last deployment. I obviously didn’t have any of my civilian cold weather gear with me in Iraq. So I took my PCU level 7 jacket and pants with me to Norway. We stayed in an old farm house with minimal electricity (lights only) no running water and wood stove was only heat source. I slept in the suit and was so toastie I had to take it off. We also went to the top Gaustatoppen (tallest mountain in Telemark county). It was probably 20 F and a wind that was 40mph. I only had a t-shirt under the lvl 7 PCU jacket and was very comfortable. The military got this system correct when designing it. |

Quoted: You're coming around the the better way of thinking. Blend in with your environment. In any modern urban environment you'll just look like an obvious target dressed and kitted like that. Go grab some normal gear from OP, North Face, Mountain Hardware, Arc'teryx, etc. Layer that over concealable body armor. CCW a sidearm. Get a good cell phone and maybe a small dual band UHF/VHF ham radio (to listen mainly). And put an SBR in an unassuming backpack. Anything else you need in your pockets and backpack. No web gear, battle vest, etc...that's just painting a target on yourself. Stay away from Mole, Camo, velcro, etc. Look like a guy walking home from his shift at work. View Quote That’s a lot of fancy gear to look like a regular guy. In counter-insurgency the troops look for clues like nice shoes as indicators of people in need of attention. |

High end outdoor gear, hiking boots or trail runners are a very regular thing. |

I would fucking leave, because I have zero interest in being under an MLRS barrage.
I even have very minimal interest in being at the SENDING end of an MLRS barrage. |

View Quote That is why random potshots from several directions and limited ambushes are the way to go. Calling a MLRS or artillery strike for a single target and likely civilian casualties is no go. It may be initially but that shit will swing their resolve a lot further quickly. |

Quoted: is that a real 152. i didnt know you could buy those. or is it some wish.com special. View Quote TRI PRC-152 It was a glorified Boafeng in 2017. There have been several major hardware revisions since then. Now it is a three board, 15W (tested to over 12.3W), tri band that can also listen in on aviation frequencies. 100% waterproof, battery life measured in days, takes 6 pin mil comms connections (amplified/non-amplified), TNC antenna connector, all metal case and works with genuine Harris batteries. A few ARFCOM guys sharing a lot of experience with mil comms, gave it their blessing. I held off on purchasing one for a long time but the 2021's feature set pushed me over the top. I've also own a Kenwood TH-D74a as a primary. Here is an 18 page thread on it: https://www.ar15.com/forums/outdoors/TRI-AN-PRC-152/22-694849/ Attached File |
