We didn't get cool shit like this 403 Utility - they're all over Argentina. The driver didnt like me taking the photo and he wasnt buying I thought it was a cool truck.

We got 404 Sedans, Wagons - but not the Pininfarina Coupes or Cabs, tho  theres one on Hemmings right now for import. Always thought the wagons were just very clean, classy, good looking rides

Mazda 323 GTX. It looks like a standard grocery-getting shitbox, but it packs AWD, a turbocharged DOHC 4-cylinder engine, some chassis stiffening over the base model, and weighs 2600lb.

They're still around, the Wagon version is fairly common but yeah the SX/4 itself is rarer. I still see them for sale from time to time though and they have a small following...gonna buy one eventually once I get my Jeep project backlog shortened a bit.

Jensen Interceptors never came with a hemi engine, they had either a 383 or a 440.  The 440 was in more units.
If only they had come with a manual transmission.

Makes less sense now - NFI man.

By '87 Sun had brought in only 75 R5s, almost all Turbo 2s. About a quarter white. They listed $18k as a base vehicle charge, but none of the cars went out the door for less than $24k. Virtually no other RI did, Sun had the economies of volume. Tan interior is later - so '85- .

So basically within a year or two of import it ended up on a junker lot for $750.

Thats not at all correct. The cars were built in Italy and share few if any part numbers with the Lebaron. they get that rep because Chrysler lured away the guy who designed the car. the disaster that was the engine calibration cause huge delays in the project and resulted in a 6.8:1 compression ratio and a car that came out well after they originally wanted it to.

In the US, not all dealers marketed but it was available as an option - eligible for Honda financing, warranty intact and delivered through the dealer.

Strathman dod the 300ZX drops and quite a few Ferrari's and upscale Marques.

Theyre kinda the Grail for some Honda guys, I'd rather have a S600

It was the most trouble free new model release I'd ever experienced. If people fed it a detergent fuel diet it was issue free.
Huh, I never realized that. I knew 3 guys that had them, one that did a full on crashworthiness test and walked  - then again a good friend owned two Phaetons at once.

Don't see as many Eos'  as I recall seeing Corrados, but may not notice since they don't hold my interest.

BTW - you're dead on about the Jag/Maserati/Lotus guy was a great dude.

Without getting into weird foreign shit like the XL1 ($150k - but hey I'll get 280mpg  - two seater) , or rebrands like the Apollo or K70, the Fox and Dashers aren't common or recognized.

You are probably 100% correct about the Eos and phaetons being lower volume, I'd throw Touaregs in too. I stopped working in cars mid 90s so I never even considered anything past that.

That VW boxer looks nice.

Our own mod @Aimless had a fox, can't remember how he liked it.  The drive line was right from the dasher.

I'll see your fox and raise you a quantum synchro. I love the straight 5 cylinder, poor mans Quattro.

My buddy with dueling Phaetons had a Fox in college.  Then a Passat - I think the Phaetons put him off VW for good.

I dig Quantums -  a Quantum Syncro Wagon with an import late Audi R5 2.5 TDI swap would be straight up tits.

Snowflakes make everything look better.
