Quoted: Sand Hill 1994, although I heard Harmony Church was much worse. I only remember being in the front leaning rest with a puddle of sweat on the ground, an FTX in there somewhere, and getting smoked all night because of the stupidity of another Private. A Co 1/50th 3rd Platoon
There was a sense of misery about that place, but stupid misery, with an air of "check the block" mentality that absorbed the more modern equipment, so that you still were experiencing things that probably hadn't changed since the 1940's. No matter how hard you scrubbed a K-Pot, there was no way you could get the Fort Benning stank out of it. |

Sand Hill, June '87....I went to basic 40 miles from home.
I caught alot of shit for that, especially after I asked the Senior Drill if I go go home at night and sleep in my own bed...he didn't appreciate the joke. |

Fort Jackson, SC. tank hill WWll barracks before they were torn down. now that was a treat View Quote Tank hill for me too. We didn't have any heat or hot water in our barracks and there was a bit of snow on the ground. They issued us an extra blanket to make up for it. There wasn't a single stall or divider near any of the pissers or shitters. Come to think of it, we had to get some windows and a door or two from midnight requisition. |

You misspelled Great Mistakes.
2004, one of the last Divs to go through the old style system where we marched everywhere. Now I hear they walk down a hallway or something for food and schooling. I can't remember what someone did, but I sure remember paying for it. The only time I have in fact seen it not only rain indoors but actually create a minor flood out the rear door. The RDCs got tired so they called in the rest of the barracks RDCs. Then they got tired and they called the MAs in. They got tired and they called the SEAL dudes down at the pool. By then our RDCs felt refreshed. I think they stopped when medical got tired of sending the aid car. I bet I did enough 8 counts that day or two than an entire Div does in the time at boot camp. |

You seem to have forgotten Fort Sill, Oklahoma. View Quote C 1-22 2003 (still all male at the time) Stall number 5 Gaurd duty. Stall number five wouldn't flush so our drill sergeant designated it the only stall we could jerk off in. Someone kept taking a shit in it so during lights out guards were posted. We reported to stall number five in full battle rattle and stood at parade rest flanking the stall door. It was a regular duty for awhile- fire Gaurd and stall number five detail. |

Our DI's made certain we didn't think it was all that easy. Some of the other platoons in the company were skatin' by, though. We made an indoor lake for some reason (or no reason) the second week and it only got better from there. |
