You set the incline at 1%? What a try hard!

Doing better after the flu?

It feels good to get back to things after recovering from a race, huh? I'm also WAY behind what was my mileage goal, but I'm pretty happy with my training the past couple weeks.

Feels great. Did a slow 8.5mi run today to break 100mi for the month. Should end up around 1650mi for the year. Goal for next year I think will be to break 2k miles.

13.36 today to try out a tweaked strategy for my next race. Instead of starting at my goal pace I started about 30 seconds slower and let the pace build itself. Seemed to work well. Kept the HR lower throughout the run.

4.4, 1649 miles for the year.

2024 was a good year of running.  Between April and October I did a 10-mile race, 5 half marathons, and 2 full marathons.  Set a marathon PR of 3:32:28 in June at Grandma’s, and 3 separate half PR’s over the summer; best for now is 1:38:xx. I really love half marathons.

My plan was to run a BQ time of 3:25 in late October, but I got injured in mid-August and had two months of painful training leading up to that race.  On race day I stayed with the 3:25 pacer for 16 miles, but started favoring my injured leg without realizing it, which led to some pretty serious back pain to where I couldn’t even stand up straight by mile 20.  The last 6 were pretty grueling, but I at least finished.  My injured time of 3:51 was still a full half hour faster than my first marathon just over two years earlier, so I know I have come a long way.

I took two full weeks off after that, which is the longest that I have gone without any running in many years.  Have been taking it very easy for the last 8 weeks with all easy zone 2 runs, mostly on the treadmill. I am now back to 100%, and new marathon training plan starts tomorrow.  BQ times were all lowered by 5 minutes for 2025, so it looks like new goal will need to be 3:20 for me as a 50-year old.

Happy new year to everyone out there doing this.

100 miles! That's crazy.

Sounds like a lot but when you break it down it's 3.75ish miles a day.

Hey everyone. Been rehabbing my knee and dealing with a hernia. Albeit small, it has been very painful at times and distracting. I've 'only' put in about 75 miles this month, closing the year out at 1,496.

I'm still training. Have backed off my mileage, sticking between 30-35 mpw and really trying to slow down. Speed days make my hernia hurt quite a bit but I've been trying to work through it. Doctors said I can still run if I want... So I've been pushing through it. If I have surgery to repair it, I'm sure I'll be low/no activity for a while. Which leads me to....

Still hoping for a late February marathon in Ft Worth. I may scrap a time goal at this point and just focus on finishing. We'll see how training goes. I took off two full weeks to recover/rest after Thanksgiving, and have missed a few long runs. I did 12 last weekend and felt pretty good when I got home. This weekend will be a challenge - I have 18 miles planned on Saturday. That will be the most miles I've ran ever in a workout so interested to see how that goes.

Anyway, wishing you all the best. Happy New Year, whatever that means, and I'll see y'all in 2025 as best as I can.

Closed out the year with a 10 mile run. Started later in the morning so it got warm quick but still held a 7:10 pace.

For the year:
203 total runs.
211:01:28 total time spent running.
1672.59 total miles.
139.38 average miles per month.
1:02:26 average time per run.
8.25 miles average distance per run.

This year my goal was to hit 100 miles per month for the entire year. For 2025, I want to hit 2000 total miles and run a BQ marathon time. I am also aiming to be on the 25th Infantry Division Army 10-miler team. Congrats to all of you that hit your goals and PRs, and looking forward to continuing this thread in 2025.
