That's pretty awesome.

My dad told me SF dive school was some of the hardest stuff in the military, regardless of branch.

Those competitors are tip of the trident, IMO.

I’ve been around many bad MFers over the years, and to a man, they would all disagree. Nobody deserves the right to be cocky. Confident? Sure. Pompous, arrogant, cocky, etc. Nope.

Similar experience in Advanced Open Water class; Navigation day was from the beach with tape across most of the top half of the mask so you could only look at the compass.
Add swimming a path in the pool underwater stopping to breathe out of scuba tanks placed along the bottom with no regulators on them. Swimming underwater with a tank and no regulator on it.
Plus..jumping off the low diving board with tank in one hand. Regulator in another, Not attached to the tank. Sink to the bottom with all your dive shit and put it together, take a breath, don the tank, get your mask on, purge the mask, swim back up.

I saw a YT video of some sniper shooting competition attended by a bunch of different teams, not just military but law enforcement and national guard as well. It had a lot of different challenges, with the finale entailing shooting targets from a helicopter.

The guys who ended up winning were some podunk sheriff's team. I'm sure that bruised some egos.
