I've only ever had anodized lowers laser engraved. How do you finish a raw aluminum receiver? Send out for anodizing? To who?
I ask, because this thread gave me an idea. A weird idea. It would need to be done on a raw receiver set and anodized an unusual (for an AR) color. |
|
If you're expecting me to give a fuck, you are going to be disappointed.
|
Most people cerakote the raw lowers.
There are anodize shops that will do them. My local place has a minimum 75 dollar charge. I would need to batch a bunch together to justify offering anodize. |

My idea isn't quite that elaborate. Here's the idea. I've always wanted to build an AR with wood furniture. What popped in to my head after reading the posts in this thread was "Hmmmm, I wonder if you could have wood grain lasered into a receiver set and anodized brown to make it look like they were made of wood as well." Told you it was weird, but I like weird shit lol. |

That would look kinda cool
I'll try to do a test on some aluminum this weekend. Something like this? Attached File |

It gets tough fielding all of the questions and special requests. I always feel bad when I thought I responded to someone, just to realize a few days later that I never did. I've had a few people hit me up again, luckily not upset, just wanted to remind me that I promised them a design. |
