I'm not a fan of DUI check points either. IANAL, but I don't see how they pass 4th Amendment violations, but FWIW, they are far less common than they used to be. I cannot remember the last one in St Louis County.

They're really not, there actually is science behind them.
They are also a staple for defense attorneys to attack in court.
One of the local defense attorneys is an NHTSA certified type 2, (someone certified to instruct SFSTs and train others).
He makes a good living defending DUI arrests and wins often enough to have earned a good name.
Oddly enough, he's a former police officer and then went to work for the DEA.

ETA - Apologies for the thread slide.

I was pondering that as well. Pretty sure these guys wouldn't let you leave.

That is nice indeed.

I’ve thinking of eventually doing a few shield inlays in bright colors. Micarta with bright G10 shield could look good.

My ozark trail review.

I bought one today so you don’t have to.

It’s a ten dollar knife so don’t expect more quality than a $5 gas station knife. The handle material is hard plastic and feels cheap. The coating on the blade and metal surfaces are heavily oiled and the blade action pivots well. The axis style lock works well but doesn’t lock up without lock rock. The main downsides are the side to side blade play, lock rock up and down, and the blade is severely off center.

I’m going to return it because it’s literally the worst quality knife I own. The cold steel tufflite at $25 is a better option as the tufflite has quality construction, better AUS8A steel, a rock solid lock and action, and the polymer handle feels much better in ergonomics and material feel.

And just because, here's the $10 ozark knock next to a $1300 shirogorov.

You can tape it or get a trainer.

I went through a period where I had convinced myself that they were a good option for a main EDC knife and tried using one for a while. You can certainly do it but a regular folder is much more convenient, especially if you find yourself in confined spaces or odd positions.

Thanks. I was thinking about grabbing one once I heard about them. Looks like I'll pass on it if the lock is janky. I was going to get one just so I could take it apart and examine the lock mechanism to try to replicate it for one of my designs. I'm thinking I might like to do an axis style lock on a modern folder if I ever get around to making one. I still have an old axis lock example from the brand that shall not be named so maybe I'll sacrifice it to the reverse engineering gods for the betterment of mankind.

I've replicated the geometry on the Triad lock in the Tuff Lite when I was making handles for it. I have that one dialed in, just need to crank out a few sets of handles.

ETA: I do not have a $1300 Shiro to reverse engineer

Him - "I didn't say that" Then he let me do the walk toe to toe stand on one foot stuff, then said "that's it". Basically how I assume it would be dealing with russian FSB, not a state patrol. Deceptive prick that's more than willing to violate people's rights.

Back to the regularly scheduled programming.

What really happens when you roll up, crack the window, say you don't answer questions, and ask if you're free to go?

Check out the Krebs M23 for AK perfection.

ETA - Is that kit you had? Did you build this one?
Looks good!

Don’t say you don’t want to answer questions.
Just refuse to answer questions.
Hand over your license, proof of insurance, and registration,(if required). If you want to be nice/speed the process up, have a card pre printed that says you’re invoking your right to silence and not going to be answering any questions without your attorney present.

Roll the window all the way down if you want.
Or not.
What can they do?
Legally…

I'm kinda bored with my M&P 2.0 and I don't really want another 1911 (except for a Thunder Ranch).

Terrible pic, but it does show 45ACP and 9mm. 30carbine would've been cool too.

I'd buy one in each caliber for that!

Nowadays, I bet the prices would be insane considering the insane prices levers go for now.
