You can probably find a clapped out semi trailer for pretty cheap. I'm pretty sure I've seen them go for a couple grand

Convertor dolly and a pintle hitch. Would have to cage the brakes, but when he tries to stop he'll smoke the car's brakes.

Forgot to post breakfast pic. Minimal eats as we went visiting today. I knew there would be to much to eat.

Need power over USB-C (PD) to both laptops simultaneously. At least 70W each, preferably 100W.

I had a VisionTek that fits those specs but never worked quite right. It would flake out. Looks like others have the same issue with them.

Just tried a UGreen, and it seems to work, except it only powers the laptop you have up on the screen, so if the second laptop is set to turn off when it is not on power or lid open, you can't switch to it.

I'd like to know of good options as well.  Asking CITO but they have .g o v funds.

I'm using a cheap'O dual display adapter (HDMI) and just swap the USB C connector when i want to switch laptops. It sucks. Use a Logitech mouse and keyboard the has the 1,2,3 can just switch each with buttom press.  Sucks though compared to KVM...

cito products of Wisconsin? they do artificial insemination...

in my research, it looks like they can all be flaky. more money more betta

The UGreen one worked OK for switching, unit was not an issue if you have separate power supply for each laptop since it only had single channel OD over USB-C. I need dual channel PD.

I have a couple more incoming for testing. The visiontech might be the answer, but not as easily returned and costs quite a bit, so it will likely be the last test if I don't find something that works first.

I'll let you know what I find.

A little more work this weekend on one of the slipjoint functional prototypes I'm working on. Got the handle jig machined and started mocking up some simple handles for it.

The green G10 is in place of metal bolsters for now. Those will be metal bars on the production knives. The black paper micarta represents the scale material that will be inlayed in the integral bolsters/liners. It'll make sense once I get to carve the handle out of the assembly. Decided not to use the red liner on the prototype. Next steps are to heat treat this booger, carve out the handles, and start test fitting. I'll adjust my CAD/CAM as needed during the fitting on this one so the production knives will be fairly well dialed in right off the mill with minimal hand work required to fit everything. Only needing to do the final sanding and polishing by hand is my goal.

This one has potential. I'm really liking the lines. Patterns with simple lines have always appealed to me and this sleeveboard is another classic pattern that will be killer if I can pull it off well. I'll definitely be making myself one to carry around.

At this rate the one I make for me will probably be a Christmas present to myself. I don't get as much time in the shop as I want. Day job is a mess and my boys are mixing up scouts, football, and ice hockey season just to make life exciting.

Not to bombard the thread but I'm also working on something a little different than what I usually do. Our resident starving engineering student @eagarminuteman is working with me to design his own custom fixed blade. I believe he posted a photo of the 3d printed prototype I sent him but I don't think I've put up any renders/screenshots of the design so far. Here are a few for you guys to check out. A more modern style than I normally do but it's growing on me and a copy of it will likely find it's way into my daypack.

It's fun putting together something for someone and specifying the options exactly the way they want it. We're planning on CPM Cruwear for the blade and some navy blue/ denim micarta handle scales. Some sort of kydex taco sheath at the end but that's still on the drawing board.

I'm putting the effort into both this and the sleeveboard slipjoint designs so that I can add them into my offerings the future.

Mostly. It started to cut a second nail nick just above the first one before I intervened. It would look off but would be perfectly usable.

I wish. I may try to find something less time consuming (with lower pay I'm sure) and spend more time working on knives.

My department recently got bought by one of our franchisees. We were corporately owned prior to that. We franchise our engineering branches just like Mc Donalds. Our fries aren't as good though.

This franchisee does things a bit different than corporate branch so we've had some growing pains and learning curves to get over. Overall it's a good thing though. We negotiated raises for all our staff, promotions for a few, they have a better incentive plan, etc. but trying to manage the people and do the production at the same time is getting difficult. I imagine it's the same struggle for everyone who's ever gone from production to management in a small department.

just don't hang a roll of toilet paper off of it or try to cut a candle

I should have rendered it stuck in the side of an outhouse! Dang it, a missed opportunity!

The people that don't use their knives, will never understand the struggle of those of us who do.

I agree, Use em up!

My dad was out working on my sister’s irrigation system the other day. He was excavating around sprinkler heads with the custom slipjoint I made him last year. That man is the perfect tester for my knives, I never know what the heck he’s going to do with them. I fully expect to see some electrical arc burns on it at some point. He’ll probably try to cut bailing wire with it eventually too.

You don't have to slaughter a chicken to get the eggs.

I imagine it's the same struggle for everyone who's ever gone from production to management in a small department.

perfect.

my FIL retired and I can't get him to work on two systems that need attention.

send your dad up.

also, right tool for the job and all that: buy him some side cutters or linesman pliers for that bailing wire. or I can when he is up here

TP photo out of focus, oh well. Dogs were like "WTF are you doing boss?" but then they decided pooping in the yard sounded like a good idea. Hope the neighbors don't look over the fence.

I might have some questions about ringed knives.

You have a collection, right?
