Awesome pics. Really capturing the scale texture and pattern.

Lionsteel Thrill

Hidden clip

integral slipjoint

Ti version around $200

Aluminum version around $120.

Just over 7"

Hey JABA, it looks like the nail knick/fuller is the same on the Bestman. Are you able to open that one handed? Or maybe it is still too shallow on the Bestman. The Thrill almost looks like it could be opened one handed with a nail or by a pinch.

Also my Sonoma bounced off concrete without a mark. The PVD coating they're using is pretty durable

Nice.

I like the best man, lack of clip is a detractor for me. this Thrill is tempting me, especially if it can be opened one hand. Looks promising if you can with the best man.

Thanks!

Stumbled across some threads in the BF Good, Bad and Ugly forum...I'm not alone in my hate of BHQ, which I knew hearing from others in different forums, but hadn't seen a compendium like this.

Apparently BHQ has acknowledged they have fundamental issues they need to address.

Not to be outdone by the dmv lawyer in cheesecake land (Wisconsin), I also bought a storage container for my knives. Well not so much as a container but the foam.

It turns out that if you add an item to your nalpak cart and fail to complete the transaction, then you’ll get a coupon in your email from them. They must know that their shipping is ridiculous because the email indicates that cheaper shipping options are available by calling in.

Meet my new box. I call her Angie.

Some observations: Angie is too small to fit my large knives. The PM2 fits just right. Autonomy 2’s are a tight fit. Anything bigger won’t fit. Nalpak’s images show 3 cr123’s fitting perfect in the small bottom compartment. I confirmed the fit but then decided not to keep batteries in a sealed box with steel like rex45/maxamet/m4. Overall I like Angie and think she’ll serve me well.

Yeah, apparently I am late to the party on it. It has been out for sale most of this year.

Since the size and slippiness is not my normal thing, suggesting it may not be a keeper, I don't want to spend a bunch on a new one, but I still want to check one out.

Also, just watching a video of one that someone sold, one hand pinch open is no problem. I'll have to keep an eye out for one on the cheap.

Just curious if any one has bought it, how they like it and how round the handles are.

I can ask about them, doesn't mean I am getting one.

Number of design elements intrigue me, but the S30V is fatal.

You can't call her Angie, that would just be too confusing.

So what did you do for box and foam? All from nalpak, or just the foam?

That lower foam insert looks useless.

This is interesting. I thought you had one ugly knife, but apparently you have at least 10. hmmm

How will she serve you well if she already isn't doing what you wanted? You complained about the price and then bought something that doesn't serve it's essential purpose? What will you do with the rest of your knives that don't fit, use them?

I think my LED work lights might be terrible for taking pictures. The vertical black reflections are from them.

LED’s are tough to photograph under.
The camera lens and sensor pick up the blue more than the yellow so the lighting generally looks “cooler”/more blue. Additionally, being a bunch of bright single source lights spread about gives you some odd shadows.

Suggestion:
Take one of those old goofy clamp lights that uses an incandescent bulb and try pics under that.
Warm, single point source of light, and you might be surprised.

I didn't used to wear a ring either. I actually got my hand stuck(on my ring) for a couple of minutes at work years ago and quit wearing it until these ones came out.

No more worrying about getting stuck or injured and they're way more comfortable than a metal ring.
