AK for me. I'm much more familiar with the controls and shooting them. I dont think I've even held an AR18 or 180.

As cool as the AR-18 is, I'm taking an AK.

Russian made AK.  It works.

One good thing about the AR-18 design is that many of the internal parts are easily fabricated by hand.

Well I'm pretty sure mine was built by a nine year old in Pakistan. And from the looks of it, I'm afraid the poor little lad didn't have any thumbs.

Imagine a third world country is trying to design their own rifle, and all their engineers have to work from are a captured AK47 and an AR15. Those are the only two guns they've ever seen. The AR18 is what they would probably come up with.

Have owned many AKs and an AR180...

Easily take the AR-18. They're easy to shoot well, mag changes are fast, last round bolt hold open, much better sights.

I had to voted AK since I don't think I've ever seen an AR18 in the wild, I know I've never shot one.
I do own 1 AK and have shot it quite a bit Yugo M92 under folder,
would love to be able to ditch the barrel extension but havn't been able to justify the $200.00 stamp.

I voted AK due to familiarity.

The AR-18 is kind of the Western VZ-58.  A good but largely unsupported weapon.

After watching the AKOU video on the VZ-58, i want one now.

Having owned an original Howa AR-180 as well as numerous commie-made pre-ban and post-ban AKs, I'm going with the AK due to parts availability.  I love the AR-18 but if it breaks your not likely to find parts unless you stumble across an IRA cache in Northern Ireland.

Good chance you've held a firearm based on its operating system, though.

I've shot an AR-180 since I was a kid, and it's pretty easy to operate.

STANAG mags will not work in an AR-18. They have to be modified, the mag latch is on the other side of the receiver and the mags must have slot cut for for it to fit in.

Shipped of where? STANAG mags and ammo readily available? Or a sand pit with lots ak type weapons floating around?

The follower also has to have some material removed.  IIRC, you can damage the BHO device if you do not do so.
