Correct.

How about infamous members due to odd circumstances outside the website?

I think it was TLee (or spelled differently) that was contacted by a kid in FL that wanted to meet up in the middle of nowhere to buy guns. The kid got busted later for making threats to do another Virginia Tech. Turned out he owned just about every gun found in Counter Strike.

PLANE ON A TREADMILL and all other MythBusters fanfare!

How in the hell did I forget plane on a treadmill!?

DO NOT DERAIL THIS THREAD BY DISCUSSING IF IT WILL FLY OR NOT!!!

But but but...

seriously, there is nothing arfcom specific about plane on a treadmill...

No, it's not ARFCOM specific, you're right about that.

But neither is Lootie, Heavy 6, and many other well known ARFCOM-isms.  If anything, Plane on a Treadmill is famous around here for it's ability to completely fracture apart the solidarity of ARFCOM members (much like arguments over chili).

I want a link to the mythbusters airplane/treadmill show dammit!

Excellent point.

Can someone who was around for Eric The Hun write an appropriate entry about him?  I wasn't around for him so anything I author would be a disservice to him.

_MaH

Eric the Hun aka Wayne Cobb.

Let me begin by stating that I hope to be half the man ETH was. I had the great pleasure of meeting ETH at his family's farm near the Pease River in central Texas. He graciously hosted several of these ARFcom get togethers that included a greta deal of shooting, a great deal of drinking (after the line was cold), and general asshattery. Wayne and his beloved Beagle, Scooter held court in the bunkhouse where he made his world famous Windex Margaritas.

He never met a stranger, he treated everyone as life-long friend and was willing to give you the shirt off of his back. Several of us (DFW crew and others) got together and put together an AR in DeWalt yellow, presented to him at a Hun Farm Shoot in a DeWalt toolbox. It was the first time I had seen Wayne speechless.

He was a prolific poster here with well over 10k posts and was a thoughtful voice of reason in the midst of the insanity in GD. He always signed off his posts with a witty and salient missive in the midst of his moniker. (see below for a poor imitation).

Wiggy (missing my friend) 762

It was one of the darkest days here when his brother informed us all that Wayne had succumbed to a massive heart attack and had died.

ADDED

Some edits made for context/typo/formatting/etc., but with credit given and pointing to the page where the original text can be found.

Sounds like he was a hell of a man, and I missed out on something by not being around for him.

Never knew Wayne beyond the confines of ARFCOM, I have no doubt that anyone who did has a richer life for it.

Tommy Cotton threads were like a train wreck to me, I just couldn't look away. What a strange cat he was.

there were probably 3 or more treadmill threads all over 15 pages. They were all very boring if you ask me.

I'm still in the dark about the whole shuttle craft door gunner thing. Did that originate on ARFCOM?

You have to include Piccolo and the SEC stories.  Classics . . . I'll see if I can dig any of them up from archive.

Can we get a shout-out to FootyUmpire (I think that was the screen name) for his utterly unique tech forum thread couple of years back; said thread having as its subject his AR-15, which apparently was of great antiquity and odoriferous, hence the immortal question: "Can Ye Smell It?"

How about SEEING EYE CAT!?!?!?

What about all the scandals and drama? C4igrant anyone?  We ran off Massad Ayoob in like 2 weeks because he couldn't take 1 or 2 arfcommers giving him shit.  LaRue is total drama queen on the forum.  The LaRue vs. Daniel Defense / Rainer Arms pickle?

STICKMAN needs honorable mention for the upside down shots he's known for.  ALSO, because I rock harder than most, I have the virgin full resolution shot of Sgt. Sugercookie!  owned.

Piccolo and the Seeing Eye Cat must be listed.

T-Man, as he was O_P's right hand man in almost all of O_P's informative posts on here that were also on the box of truth.  I believe he was the camera man, wood worker on stocks, etc.  See O_P's memorial post about him that wasn't too long ago.  I would suggest you ask O_P for the summary, as he is the only man who should write what there is about T-Man.

Dusty_C basic history (as there is at least one thread a week asking about him).
