Can a sky crane even lift it? They are way larger and heavier than they seem in pictures.

Pressure plate and throw out bearing.

Should have gone with the 10spd auto years ago.

It is reputed that Lego killed their Osprey set not because of the war protestors complaining that they were making a military themed set, but actually because there was a design defect that resulted in ground-up gears.

I guess Lego really captured the essence of the original.

Skycrane has about the same payload as the latest CH-47 so a V-22 is still too heavy.

As said earlier in the thread

Throw down some big pads and move it or fix in place.

Lots of places in Alaska use big plastic pads to move heavy equipment and loads.

Remove the wings, and lift it out in three lifts. The hardest part will be dealing with the fuel.

Montana NG CH-47 lifting a Yellowstone front end loader.  Had to strip it below 25,000 pounds. The CH-53K externally lifts something like 30,000 pounds.

The Norwegians want as little as possible additional damage done to their nature preserve and is why they do not want it fixed where it sets. All the work and equipment needed to remove the wings would be more than just fixing the gearbox.

You must be in the mountains. They fly over my cabin all the time. Like almost right over. Like 50' in the air. They scare the shit out of me tbh. Cool planes through. Not sure where the AFB is located, but I'm guessing close.

Pull the engines and haul then out separately, pump out the fuel into another aircraft internal tanks, then the aircraft weight should be well within limits.

Damaged and broken are two different things.  It can be unable to fly due to being broken, but not damaged.
