Build yourself a Corsi Rosenthal Box out of MERV 13 furnace filters and a box fan.
Seriously - they do a damned good job of cleaning up indoor air, on the cheap. |

No idea, but these last 2 days the haze is crazy. Visibility gets real shitty after a half-mile.

Is it going away tomorrow? |

Me and the wife rode our Harleys up through Holmes county today then back to southeast Ohio. It was somewhat worse up there but we got it too. Was kinda hard to see through the haze when the sun trying to get through sometimes.
I also think this "haze" is something that the government is doing to control the populace. Perhaps the next "COVID" ? Come on man!!! |

Quoted: Spoken like a true Millennial. Holmes county is God’s country! View Quote I caught my biggest largemouth bass in Holmes county back in 2000. It was from a private lake in Millersburg where they used to rent out a little cottage. I could easily fit hand in the fish's mouth, and I wear an XL glove. Good times, although the manure smell on the drive there could be a bit overwhelming down in the valleys. I was out by Lake Erie today, and didn't have any issues. Visibility was shit, but I had no respiratory discomfort. Maybe years of living in the city toughened up the ol' lungs. |

Quoted: micrograms per cubic meter10 The EPA says anything over 15 is a problem. https://www2.purpleair.com/blogs/blog-home/how-is-pm2-5-measured View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: What is the scale ? 1-10? 1-5,000? micrograms per cubic meter10 The EPA says anything over 15 is a problem. https://www2.purpleair.com/blogs/blog-home/how-is-pm2-5-measured That’s incorrect and not how the Air Quality Index (AQI) works. AQI is an easily understandable indicator of air quality for public dissemination. AQI can refer to particulate matter (like PM2.5 that causes haze), ozone, or a mix of ozone and PM. The AQI is a unitless value that correlates to a visual color indicating the “level of concern” based on the index value. As you see below, there is no top constraint to the AQI value, but anything over 301 is immediately dangerous to human health. Background ozone and/or PM is anything within the range of 0 - 50 AQI but more typically ~30 - 50 AQI, clearly falling in the green “good range”. Again, AQI is a unitless value. Ozone is measured in parts per million or parts per billion concentrations. PM (PM2.5 or PM10) is measured in micrograms per cubic meter. AQI does NOT tell you what that concentration value is, therefore to conflate concentration with AQI is an elementary error. If you’re a nerd, you can calculate the concentration from the AQI value or vice-versa. AQI= ((AQIHi) - (AQILo)/(ConcHi) - (COnLo)) * ((Conci) - (ConcLo)) + (AQILo) Conci = Input concentration for a given pollutant ConcLo = The concentration breakpoint that is less than or equal to Conci ConcHi = The concentration breakpoint that is greater than or equal to Conci AQILo = The AQI value/breakpoint corresponding to ConcLo AQIHi = The AQI value/breakpoint corresponding to ConcHi |

Oregon had some big wildfires back in September 2020. Just looked at my screen shots and we had air quality of 516. Visibility of 109 yards.
Good times. We evacuated 100 miles to our recreational property and the wind shifted and it was just as bad. So much for our bail out plans Attached File Attached File |
