I’m a purist, and still prefer the original. However, I thought the remake was fantastic.
My two favorite things about the remake were Barbara (she was actually a real person now), and the new ending. You couldn’t use the same twist agin, it would have no impact.
I though the new ending was a fresh take, and still stuck with the spirit of the film. I went into the theater expecting to hate it, and was really impressed.

I was much less impressed with the remake of "Dawn.” Fast zombies, cardboard cut-out characters. It wasn’t for me.
(I will say, the pre-credit sequence was great. But, IMO, the movie failed to maintain.)
I preferred the remake of “The Crazies”  to the remake of “Dawn."

Anyone find it kind of sad that Flyboy pretty much makes it back to the group as a Zombie, and even shuts the door behind him, and kind of slumps against the wall before getting back up? Almost like he made it back there just so he could be put out of his misery.

2:29:Ish

also the zombie who is just fixated on staring at rifles is hilarious. He doesn't even attack Peter once another rifle is handed to him.

Maybe it was realistic in 1968, but Holy shit its so infuriating to watch lmao. It took a smack to the face to make her some what tolerable.

The only good movies Romero made were the original NOTLD, Dawn, Day and The Crazies.

He's really just a big bitch who would cry about not having the money he asked for to produce what he wanted. Which is hilarious because the mentioned 4 were on tiny budgets and awesome. Then when he had major money, he pumped out absolute crap like Land, Diary and Survival. All that money he finally had after crying and crying about it for years, and he puts out shit that was just like a SCYFY Channel abortion.

And Savini's remake was better than the original Night. It actually got me into ar's, and last year I finally picked up a Colt XM177E2 Retro Carbine.

I didn't like the other two, but Diary was pretty good on its own merits.

Real person how? Because she wasn't in shock and scared out of her mind? You think everyone in some weird, fucked up, completely mind blowing situation who doesn't instantly download Tier 1 operator skills isn't "real."

I'd say it's the opposite.

Strong first half, weak middle, terrible ending. Figured Romero would have gone more "internal fighting" from their greed being a more important role than the dumbest biker gang.

The Biker part was comedy at best imo

Woke up this morning, and said to my wife, "I can see you almost can't control your excitement for the movie today." She said, "I think I'm doing a petty good job containing myself."
My wife is definitely not a horror movie person. (Though she loves true crime stuff - the sicker the better.) However, she's also a good sport.
After I dragged her to see "Shin Godzilla" in the theater, when we came out, she said, "Okay, honestly, I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would."

It's funny how difficult it is to explain why you like a movie, especially when it's a cult film. I can't even explain to other horror fans why I like Umberto Lenzi's "Nightmare City" so much.
The wife is working tomorrow, so I figure I'll be a nice guy and spare her having to see "Terrifier 2." That I know she would hate.

When I was a kid, there was a theater by us that played midnight movies.
They ran Rocky Horror on Saturdays, and a rotation of cult films on Fridays.
The one that played most often on Fridays was DotD.

I used to go there, years ago (as a shopper, not a zombie - but not really much difference when you get right down to it!).

Got to see DotD (a few times), Mad Max, The Thing, Clockwork Orange and a few others.  Some of those were on cable back then, but something about seeing it in the theater was really cool.  I skipped the Rock Horror Picture Show.  A friend of mine worked at the theater and said the RHPS theater was often pretty trashed after shows.

I had trouble getting the hot link to work in the post, once posted it would add extra dashes into the URL making it invalid, I think it was just too long. So, I tried tinyurl which was working when I posted it yesterday, guess it went bad too.

I used VLC media player to stream the video from youtube and retrieve the downloadable link from the codec info VLC provides.

ETA: Even with a workaround it seems like the links expire after a period of time.
