After reading that thread I was fired up to buy a shirt myself, only to be completely bummed I was a bit late to the party. (As with all the shirts so far)

Watched the video as the poo-head dude announce guns’ students as the winner made me give a shout of “Ah-HA!!”

I’ve been spoiled in being able to read these build threads as evening enjoyment and getting the whole story from start to finish quite quickly.  I keep hitting refresh hoping Wyoming has funky school days and they have to come in for class work between Christmas and NewYears!

The Cody Country Art show and the Buffalo Bill Art show are cool shows.   I didn't know they had ever allowed Taxidermy.    I have former students who are invited every year to present traditional pieces for those shows.

One of them has even had pieces used as the advertisement art for the Buffalo Bill Show.   That is a huge honor for him.

All that said, those weren't the shows that we took taxidermy to.   It was the WSAA WY State High School Art Symposium in Casper that requested we not bring the taxidermy anymore.   That and the changing of entry fees that put the nail in the coffin for us going there.

The Haiku task board was pretty amazing and exactly why arfcom has made these projects so much more than I thought possible.    That organic creative process that grew out of a simple joke was incredible.   The kids latch on to suggestions that are posted here and pull the projects in crazy directions.   It makes it fun for everyone.

I'm not sure I have the Haiku enthusiasts at the moment, bit I will let them know and see where it goes.

Ahhhh.... that explains why the rooms where my mom and I wandered around viewing art was not the big coliseum I’ve seen in your vids of the show.  We were in the wrong city!

Can’t wait for you all to get back at it!

You have a program worth supporting. A true teacher is VERY hard to find nowadays, as most I see are either regurgitating syllabus slaves or activist socialist drones, or worse, the good ones who are cowering in fear for their jobs from the circling Soros harpies, waiting to pounce on any deviation from The Agenda. You, sir, are none of those, admirable, and worth supporting in your endeavors.

ARF is just the seasoning you have available to add so that the recipe tastes like it should.

Just saying, after you run out of room for your projects... you need to run for leadership in Education.  Some where.  ANY where.  America needs more “you” kind in position of leadership.

There’d be quite the army of helpers to get you elected!

So now that you're moving around one of the older projects, how are you finding it to be holding up over time?

It would be pretty cool if you could have a tablet in each area showing progress photos and video for each project.
Obviously budget couldn't cover something like that.

Also, my Mom and I went to Cody when the Art show was there and the gal who let us in informed us of the rule of no taxidermy anymore.  I was sad as that would have been cool to see, and told her as much.  She agreed wholeheartedly with us. I was reading the Unicorn thread and had not realized it was YOU and YOUR STUDENTS who were shafted by that!

I'm sorry that happened, but glad you guys went out on top.

Love these threads as they truly are a very uplifting read.

Though ... can we have the task board Haiku again?

Marine One was a feaken nightmare the last couple years, till we found the motor with a bad spot on it.  The tail propeller motor kept coming loose from the drive, but we have it fixed now.   This year it has been pretty trouble free.

The Locomotive train was doing great till today.

This year, the tractor and electric train on our Mission to Mars have been nonstop pain in the broken parts dept.
We are currently waiting on an upgraded drive pulley wheel for the front wheels.  It broke on of the bolts and then proceeded to self destruct.
So sits the train.

The little adapter for the power cord has a short in it.   That allowed the engine to go past it's sensor and sit and run, burning out the motor.   I've got a new motor coming.  The track is always dirty and needs cleaned all the time.   I had my son update the program when he was back last week, so it now has a timer so it won't go too long if it stops or runs off the track.

You need to get rid of that steel track and get nickel track.  It will still need cleaning occasionally,  but nickel seems to work better.

Maybe just those picture frame type tablets might be a more ecomical way to go.   Just needs to be able to display pictures.

I'm a little worried about being able to lock them out to keep some student from uploading and changing the images.   I'm trying to think like a teenager.

Easy enough to secure them. I have quite a few old clients that refresh equipment constantly.  The picture frame units would be easy to set up but zero security...

We think we can get the tail a bit closer to the corner of the room, but the center will need to stay about the same.

It should be able a bit more than it currently is and hopefully we can get it closer to the ceiling.

The 10ft pvc pipe allows us to move the cable looped over the main beam, closer to the wall.   We only have about 24" to play with.

Geofencing would be cool if there is enough separation between the project spaces.  Or augmented reality using the tablet cameras.  Cloud offers more flexibility in updating and delivering content vice having to handle multiple devices individually.

So...Just spitballing, here...

Would it not be easier to have students make up a detailed website for each project, with photos, write-ups, trial videos, etc...

...and then just have a scannable QR code at each station?  This could be for any of your projects, from taxidermy to Bearded Man and beyond.

You control the website and what goes on it.  Visitors--or students--could scan the QR code at any time on their own media devices, and the presentation could be viewed easily and frequently, without having to mess with any hardware at all.

It would be technically simpler, eliminating the use of quickly outdated and eventually degraded/diminished hardware...as well as providing as much information as you want, simply and securely.  All updates/additions/revisions would only have to be done at a single point.

It's a safe bet that all of your visitors and interested parties already have their own media devices (phones, tablets).

It would literally take up no room other than a smallish card--down to the size of a postage stamp--at each project location.  There would be no requirement to acquire/maintain/oversight of a collection of hardware devices.

ETA: You know...if you did this with YouTube videos of your projects, it could result in another income stream for your projects.  Maybe your school has a multimedia class that could make this a project?  Every one of your displays could be showcased with its own sounds, music, effects, and interactions.

The sky would be the limit.

For example:
