Wife was in the market for a RAV4 Hybrid. Local Toyota dealers had a few we looked at. When we decided which one we wanted, they added in $8k upcharge. We asked what the hell that charge was. They said it was a dealer availability upcharge.
Wife told them to stick it up their ass. It was funny as hell.
She found one just like she wanted for around $2k cheaper in Pittsburgh where she is on travel assignment.

Everybody at Mine deserves a punch in the face for the $10,000 "Market Adjustment upcharge on Tacomas and Sequoias.

The toyota dealer here is fucking awful. I think they changed owners around 10 years ago or so as they used to be our family's preferred dealer. The used car section is shady as hell and I almost took them to small claims. Finance department was changing paperwork, new car lot is putting charges on fucking everything.
I went to look at the new Crowns. They had a $5k "market adjustment" plus $2k for nitrogen and floormats lol. As soon as I saw that I walked away and told the salesman who was trailing me spouting off all sorts of bullshit to just leave me alone I'll take my business elsewhere. For comparison this was the Crown Limited, their midline trim, and it was over $55k with their markups. I went a couple miles down the road to the Lexus dealer and they had a ES350 Ultra Luxury for less and only sold at or under MSRP new. The honda dealer was the same way with the new '23 Accord's. $4-5k in make believe markup.
5 years ago I went to a dealer in b'ham to look at a couple used subaru's. They both had markups for "tint, all season floormats, and nitrogen" when I asked them how much they wanted for them. One of them hadn't even made it through their own inspection and fucking came with tint and factory all weather mats the other one again had factory all season mats and bubbling tint that was clearly years old lol.
It's just mind blowing with the internet being a thing for decades now how dealers still pull that shit and how people still fucking fall for it. I have no problem going across country if I have to and buy from someone that doesn't pull shit like that.
