You're probably wanting 2 blades, one with ~80 teeth for Finished cut work on bevels, and one with the 4x teeth like that one for fast cutting where the cut results won't be seen, and maybe a spare for each, though I'm probably late and you've likely got a big selection now (I'm thinking 12" blade tooth count, not sure of 10"). and need another miter saw to hold them. |

I would think it would be quite challenging to fill in all the gaps in a charred log w/ acrylic before sealing the whole thing w/ clear lacquer. Rather competitive for the A+ - who can create the more realistic charred log? The students who actually burn the log and seal it so that soot doesn't fall off & you can't smell it, or the students painting driftwood? |

It makes the wood look more burned than actual burned wood looks. The only thing I'd suggest is that it is too good. Leave a couple 'unburnt' spots off here and there or slap some only lightly charred bark on chunks of it maybe. I suppose a grey ash put down in that inverse-grid sort of look would look awesome, especially if it was trenched out to hold some flame colored LED strings then laid back in a thin layer over top (or replace with painted black/ash tinted paper from a very light coat? |

Anyone want to comment on how bad it is for arduino to have the motor unwind when power is removed? Bad, bad, ? Will it send current back to the arduino? Other end of limit switches should be connected to +5V (5.5V Max, preferably through a 10k current limiting resistor in case somebody tries connecting it to 12V the input is still safe) Motor controller is what will go poof if the motor turns into a generator beyond the sinking specs of the motor driver, I believe you have the L298 ones which as a module should have protection diodes to sink away all the current without hurting the controller and for sure not hurting the Arduino. Some of the motor driver module boards use an optically isolated signal path from Arduino, so no matter what happens to the motor voltage inputs, only the board is as the Arduino is fully isolated (no electrical/wire path from motor to Arduino). That being said, out are using gearhead motors and there isn't a whole lot of coast time/spike generation on power off. There should be 2 voltage inputs on the motor driver board, one for the Arduino input of 0-5VDC and the other providing Motor power at 12V/13.8VDC. Those two should be isolated from each other but it's eventually impossible to plan for every possible malfunction and mis-wiring. Just double check the wiring and voltages before connecting Arduino. |
