My friend Seth, an armament warrant,  got some bad info on where our FA battalion was set up one drill. So he grabs a fire control NCO, and rolls into FOB Patriot on Bragg, walks into a tent, and joins the conversation.

Everyone is in armor, no visible patches. Dudes are like, "Yeah chief, 2 guns are down, and yada yada yada..."

After a few seconds he realizes they're talking 777s, not 109s. Oops, wrong tent. Instead of the Guard, he's been chatting it up with the 82nd.

I usually do make it to formations.
If I had been a warrant, I would have just gone to random formations for random units. Leave about 2 minutes into the safety brief and see what they do.

That brought back memories!  DeRidder critter.  Used to go to the steakhouse in DeRidder every week.

Honestly though, I liked Ft Polk.  I'm a country boy and you don't get more country than Ft Polk.

I spent ~three weeks down there as a G-OTC for JRTC.  The post itself kinda sucks . . . JRTC bays suck in a serious way.

Still... was probably better than the CDT.
Late-early-evening hemi-demi-semi-informals are a pain to get set up right.

That's over block leave. They either are the only lower enlisted who aren't going on leave, or they really fucked up and can't. Either way, no one cares. They're Privates.

There better be a 3rd private around. The drunk SPCs not taking leave will need a DD.

Wonder how many of that 2% has pissed off the fantail of a Navy ship. I did it on my last underway at sunrise after I got done dumping trash.

When we got to Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield, we had to spend 24 hours in MOPP 4.  Just for training.

Every college student should have to spend 24 hours in MOPP 4.

I know that wasn't as long as many have had to stay in it, but it was enough for me!

Fucking yikes. The longest I was in them was during MCT in the winter of NC and that was more than enough for me. Shit's dildos. I think college students should have to wear them while randomly getting pelted with rotten fruit and beat with reeds.

My web belt was toast.  No way in hell it was going to pass.

I bought a brand new belt at clothing sales the morning I cleared and took the tags off and put it in my duffel bag.  I handed the stuff over for inspection.  A small pile was to the side of unacceptable gear.  Right smack on top was the belt.

I showed the gear weenie my reciept when he tried to tell me it wasn't good enough and he let it go, but he said it was dirty.

My favorite part of clearing CIF was returning gear that has sat in a duffle bag in my closet for the two years since it was issued to me by CIF, yet it's not clean enough for them to accept back.
