Looks like we might get some more chances for auroras in the near future.

New Active Sunspot Throwing out X-flares Already. Elevated Space Weather Activity. Wednesday 5/15/24

So the sunspot area that gave us last Fridays light show is moving to the back side of the sun, (which just did like a X8.7 this morning) and a new, second area is coming around currently lining up with Earth, also throwing X class flares. Pretty wild. Spaceweather.com called it the most widespread aurora in 500 years. What if this cycle is just getting started? Seems a bit unprecedented unless I’m exaggerating things.

Also lol

I do think a few years from now when the solar maximum has passed and the suns activity starts to calm down we’ll find that some of our crazy weather was caused by the sun.

Funny that.  A huge Fusion plant in the sky pumping out unimaginable amounts of energy effects things near by!

No, that would be the weakening magnetosphere which is also responsible for our climate changes. Low latitude auroras happened maybe 14 times since 1550 all because of strong geomagnetic storms. In 2023 and 2024 already at least 10 times and counting most times with only minor geomagnetic storms.

Some great reading on the current solar cycle on Wikipedia with some nice easy to understand colorful charts and graphs for us retards. Could be an interesting next few years.

Might be interesting next week.

Large Farsided CME Observed
May 20, 2024 @ 21:20 UTC
A fast moving, full halo coronal mass ejection (CME) is seen leaving the Sun this morning beginning around 05:30 UTC (May 20). Based on updated imagery, this event occurred on the farside of the Sun and is not Earth directed. Perhaps our old friend AR 3664 is up to its old tricks again. We should begin to see the big sunspot region turn back into view early next week.

I think "Sunny" (haha) from The View blamed climate change.  You know you f'ed up when WHOOPIE has to correct your dumb statement.

The View's "Sunny" was blaming the solar activity on climate change, not the other way around.
