Looks like we might get some more chances for auroras in the near future.

So the sunspot area that gave us last Fridays light show is moving to the back side of the sun, (which just did like a X8.7 this morning) and a new, second area is coming around currently lining up with Earth, also throwing X class flares. Pretty wild. Spaceweather.com called it the most widespread aurora in 500 years. What if this cycle is just getting started? Seems a bit unprecedented unless I’m exaggerating things.

Might be interesting next week.
Large Farsided CME Observed May 20, 2024 @ 21:20 UTC A fast moving, full halo coronal mass ejection (CME) is seen leaving the Sun this morning beginning around 05:30 UTC (May 20). Based on updated imagery, this event occurred on the farside of the Sun and is not Earth directed. Perhaps our old friend AR 3664 is up to its old tricks again. We should begin to see the big sunspot region turn back into view early next week.
