All done, now off to let my daughter and son do some shooting! RIP Sugar! https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/266077/20190723_160445_resized_jpg-1027583.JPG https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/266077/20190723_162700_resized_jpg-1027584.JPG Might as well just piled some leaves on top of it. |

Is it bad that my first thought when seeing the picture was damn it looks easy to dig in TX! Here you'd already be into bedrock at that depth. I had to use an excavator to plant 3 "medium" sized trees for my wife just a couple weeks ago .... not to mention that we literally live in the middle of the woods, so if there's one thing we need, it's more trees. ETA - sorry ... to thread topic ... 6 feet, I thought everything had to be buried at 6 feet ? View Quote |

Do you think this is a deep enough grave for a smallish guinea pig? My daughter is really concerned of coyotes digging her up. Standard sharpshooter shovel for reference. Damn it's hot! Should have tossed this rodent in the trash and call it a day! https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/266077/20190723_150718_resized_jpg-1027456.JPG View Quote |

Quoted: Good job Dad! View Quote I have had to bury so many pets over the years. The cemetery area they picked couldn’t be any worse if it was a granite quarry. I think there are 5 small dogs and a few fish out there now. I had to have the labs cremated. No way I could have done those horses. |

"Daddy, will you dig Lemmiwinks a grave?'
"No, buzzards got to eat same as worms." "Mom!" |

OP, I agree with your last sentence. Throw stuff like this in the trash.

How old was the pig?
4-5 years ago I got talked into taking in a "rescue" pigglet assuming they were like mice and only lived a year or two... 4-5 years later, still have this healthy boar. |

I was gonna say landfill deep, but when a daughter is involved, I understand.

I built small coffin/boxes for the dogs in the back yard gravesite.

Plastic-coated or water-resistant plate? I'm not complaining. The pig's a good pet. I built him a hutch so he can graze outside; he's very content to spend all day outside nibbling grass. Glad he'll live a while and make effort of building the hutch worth it. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48368813122_dcf48af89b_z.jpg @jeadams View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

That's not the proper guinea pig funeral.
I recommend tying it to a few balloons filled with helium and sending him to guinea pig heaven. |

I dug one about that depth for my daughter’s GP. I learned the hard way that wasn’t deep enough. Within 2 weeks it was dug up. Go deeper.

Wasn’t there an epic thread a few years ago of a member that posted his video of giving the family hamster a bagpipe send off, then dropped the box and all into the herby curby?

How was this NOT an option? Shall we just let our traditions die off? Funeral pyre would have been a nice substitute if you didn't have access to a lake.

I think it was another rodent, and I believe he tried to carbon monoxide poison them inside a trash bag but it smoked them and the meat fell off the bones. Or it could've been a different guy.
