Prices have remained steady from all reputable sources,,,the only gouging was conducted by individuals. Supplies have been steadily growing, albiet at a slow rate, There is going to be many people who are going to be pissed that they didnt wait. Besides there wasnt a chance in hell that the AWB would have passed either the Senate or House because they dont want to get a pinkslip in the midterm elections and they were very afraid of a armed rebellion.

Even though DiFi's AWB has been shot down, we still have to contend with the anti-gun legislation that has a chance to pass without the AWB tacked to it.  We also have to worry about legislation at the state level as well.
Not to mention the PANIC THAT IS ABOUT TO START OVER THE 2014 MID TERM ELECTIONS, WE LOSE THE HOUSE AND WE WILL GET AN AWB THAT WILL MAKE THE 1994 BAN LOOK LIKE A JOKE

I don't think morally speaking that selling something you already own for a higher price than you bought it is a problem.  Most decent dealers kept there prices pretty reasonable. The problem is that the trash of our society sat in front of computers all day buying all available stock of everything from parts to mags with the sole intention to immediately resell on aution sites for criminal prices and take advantage of people that have to work all day and couldnt be either online at the store the minut intentory came in  I think that's why most sellers put quantity limits on most product. It reall wasn't about low stock so much as trying to curb the scalpping.

It will happen again when the next ban bill comes up. And people will panic again.

This time around, people aren't gonna wanna sell at a loss.  Paying $1800 for an $800 AR...taking a $1000 loss?  Doubt many want to do that.  In that case, they are better off keeping it.  Lowers supply, keeps prices higher.

Yes, they will come down.  But to get back to the $800 walmart AR's...thats gonna take quite awhile...if ever.

Interesting statement....

So you don't have a problem with gas prices, $5 for a gallon of milk, etc....

they are just exorcising an "economic opportunity"...

Maybe....

Capitalism is the single best, and the single worst system in the world, all at the same time. Simply because of one thing, the human factor.

There are people I trust, but I don't trust people.

$5 gas, guess what get a car that doesn't burn as much gas. Free market solution, $5 gallon milk, don't buy as much milk, drink water, take Vit D and calcium supplements of important. Another free market solution. For every free market problem you present I can present a free market solution. The only scenario I can have trouble with is with healthcare.

you are right, but in my circle of people it's a huge factor. Most of the people I know were considering buying an AR until the AWB talks got going. That AWB is what made them get up and go out and buy,

It is most certainly part of the demand.  But the scarcity of gun stuff (notably the NON hunting stuff) is going to be with us for a while.  Because the impending AWB was only part of the reason for high demand.
But you are right.  Lots of new black rifle buyers out there.  Good for our rights, bad for the prices.

It's a moral issue... Do unto others as you would have them do unto you...

If someone doesn't get that, they never will.

Now I won't go so far as to say all workers are guaranteed low prices... This sounds like socialism... But I will say that fair pricing is the moral thing to do.

If the SHTF, and guns/magazines/ammo become necessary, then it would be gouging, and a very dangerous proposition, as desperate people will do desperate things, like pay $1000 bucks for a crappy AK.

I'm just saying that I am a big believer in Karma... What comes around, will go around.... no two ways about it.

As for "do unto others," there are plenty of folks willing to sell me high prices stuff every day. I'm free to refuse if I don't want it or feel the price exceeds the value.  It happens all the time. I don't immediately buy everything I want from the first place I can find.  If I find what I want, think the price is acceptable, and have the money I buy it, otherwise I don't. Karma has jack shit to do with it.

You say you're not a socialist, yet you spout their dogma... What's that all about?

So if someone offered you $1k for a crappy AK you'd refuse?

Do you work for 1970s wages, because people charge too much for their services today?

Oh no boss, don't give me a raise, I don't deserve it...

Gimme a break.

Very good point and not as outrageous as some people might think.  My grandfather always hated how people were greedy and charged too much money for their work.  He was a contractor in his early years but did various renovation/fix-it jobs throughout his 60's, 70's and early 80's.  He always refused to charge more than $10/hour for his labor (less than 10 years ago).  And he always passed along any discounts he got on materials to the customer.  Not surprisingly, he always had at least 2 years worth of jobs lined up and was constantly turning people away because he was overloaded with work.  My uncle tried to reason with him, arguing that people were taking advantage of him and that he could double his labor price and still have all the work he wanted.  Granddaddy wouldn't have any of it on principle.  I never agreed with his views on greed but he has the right to do what he likes and at least he is consistent.

Now, how consistent are these people here whining about greed?  Not very, I bet.

Just as a little piece of evidence.
This site used to have (just a couple of years ago) 4000-6000 people browsing at any normal time.

Now it is almost always above 10,000.

11,366 right now.

My local Academy had three DMPS A15s the other night...$799.00 each. I passed and so did a couple of other guys sitting there.
