Go back and read my post on the previous page and/or actually read the university website's actual content.
Please post an actual quote showing how this university is encouraging kids to do these things instead of simply telling parents how to react AFTER the fact. I'll wait. |

Are we taking bets on how long it takes for zoophilia to be embraced by the left?
I'm thinking 2020. |
|
I played doctor as a kid with the neighbor girl (who was 1 year older than me, and it was her idea), got in trouble for it, but did it again anyway.
I also watched porn as a teenager. My parents weren't computer savvy enough to ever catch me, but they probably would have punished me had they. Unless I'm some aberration, I'd say that these things are probably very common. Should kids be punished for these things? I guess that is a parenting judgement call, which exposes a bigger philosophical gap between groups of people and how they raise their children. IMHO, as a non parent, I think it is important to lay out ground rules and consequences, even if you know they are likely to be broken at some point. |

Kids should not be watching porn.
Have you seen porn lately? Incest, and 12 on 1 gang bangs are normal. |

I remember old science fiction stories about “the future” that predicted this, almost to a T. Brave New World is a dystopian novel written in 1931 by English author Aldous Huxley, and published in 1932. Largely set in a futuristic World State of genetically modified citizens and an intelligence-based social hierarchy(as in-"we know what's best for you), the novel anticipates huge scientific developments in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation, and classical conditioning that are combined to make a utopian society that goes challenged only by a single outsider. The "intelligence based-heirarchy" has simply come to fruition sooner than anticipated. |

I think you’ll find that, if you read the actual source, and not let another conservative social outrage site spin you up, that’s precisely what they’re saying. For example, on porn? http://www.soc.ucsb.edu/sexinfo/article/basics-sexuality-talking-about-sex-talking-your-child-about-sex-0 Imagine that, another right wing outrage site twisting the truth for ratings. Now, watch me get dogpiled and called a troll for pointing this out. Edit: pleasantly surprised that some others here have actually read the source and applied independent thought. Allow kids to watch porn?? Dude, seriously?? WTF? Kids shoukd be allowed to be kids. Demonizing sexuality can create all kinds of weirdness. Encouraging sexuality in 3,4,5 year olds? Nope..... For example, on porn? During puberty, kids become curious about sex and may begin researching online. Because it is so easy to access, it is likely that they will be exposed to pornography. Laws for viewing online pornographic material vary by state and country, so parents should familiarize themselves with local laws. Even if the child is not of legal age, it is important to discuss these topics, as it is often very easy for people of any age to bypass age-checks to access adult content online. While we do not condone underage children seeking out and watching pornography, adolescents should understand that viewing pornography is not uncommon, and that it can be used as a healthy outlet for some people who are exploring their sexuality. However, we strongly encourage parents to explain to their child that pornography can be harmful by creating unrealistic expectations about sex and intimacy, especially when it comes to the appearance, desires, and behavior of women. Emotional intimacy, although severely lacking in most X-rated productions, is an important part of sex that builds trust and love. Finally, parents should remind their child that, although sexuality may be a new part of their life worth exploring, they should resist the urge to rely on pornography or other platforms that misrepresent normal sexual behavior. Imagine that, another right wing outrage site twisting the truth for ratings. Now, watch me get dogpiled and called a troll for pointing this out. Edit: pleasantly surprised that some others here have actually read the source and applied independent thought. |

Oh look, GD tripping over itself to get triggered about fiction again. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise. I swear you fuckers are functionally illiterate.
|
|
Quoted: Exactly. This is the definition of "fake news" but since it reinforces what people already think here, no one takes the time to actually investigate if the claims are actually true. They simply take this fakenews website at face value. The UC Santa Barbara website IS NOT recommending or endorsing watching porn or having kids touch each other, it's simply saying that if you catch children doing it at a very young age, don't make a huge deal about it or punish them for it. This is developmental psychology 101 and nothing new. By making a huge deal about it/punishing children for playing doctor, it can have a negative effect on them long-term because children at that age are just exploring and it's normal part of life. You're of course still going to tell the children to stop doing it, you're just not going to make a huge freak out about it. No on is actually encouraging children to do it, they're only talking about what do AFTER potentially catching children in the act and how to handle it. For people that complain about fake news, GD sure falls for it often. This thread is a perfect example when you see 4+ more pages of echo chamber "I knew this was true about liberals advocating pedophilia" since no one takes the time here to use basic critical thinking skills and to verify if it's actually true. Dude that's the author of the article not a member of the UCal sociology department.
And she's reasonable. The author describes it as ghastly. According to their ghastly view, parents should only intervene when the play becomes “non-consensual,” or painful. They even argue it’s okay for children to insert something inside their genitals. ETA Having read the link provided by Bohr Adam, the article really misrepresents the material. So, maybe the crazy eyes thing was appropriate. |
