Sounds like OP is buying a tranny. Good clean gear oil could be described as "Clear" compared to black oil. Good luck.

Curious how it could hold all that oil and not be cranksplashing the rings and smoking like crazy?

Fail train thread. OP not gona get laid by neighbor now, LOL...

Decent Youtube video on doing an oil change on that same vehicle. It you emptied fluid from ANY other plug, don't drive the vehicle or even start it.

I made a similar mistake first time trying to change the oil on an Impreza with a CVT.. make sure you pull the right plug, not the first one you see when you lay down and look under the car...

She was probably running the thing around on a quart and a half of oil. Now she's running around on 6.5 quarts of oil, and no transaxle oil. |

You mean that you're THIS experienced and you were working on your neighbor's car? Of COURSE there's a drain plug on EVERY manual transmission! Clueless dope - better get her car towed to someone that actually knows what they're doing. |

Does OP remember what size socket he used for the drain plug? Surfing for Hyundai info, the drain plug probably needs a 16mm socket and the tranny would be a larger socket.

Generally it's a pretty clear fluid. |

View Quote Independent, professional auto mechanic here, I am 100% sure you drained the manual transmission. It’s ok, lots of people have done it. Please call her before damage is done. It’s “only 1 quart overfill” because the crankcase volume is not linear. The space between the add and full marks is only 1 quart at that height in the oil pan. The oil pan is not a cylinder shape. Imagine filling up a vase, the volume filled to filled height ratio changes as you pour. For my proof, I bet the oil that came out of the old filter was a lot darker than the clean fluid you drains from the “engine”, wasn’t it? |

Hyundai's have electric brake fluid pumps - the kind of fluid that's CLEAR!

Quoted: Lots of trannies don't have drain plugs. In fact, most auto trannies don't. You have to drop the pan. I've owned a bunch of older rides with manual trannies, no drain plugs. Dumb idea, but there it is. Ditto rear diffs. Unbolt the entire rear cover to drain a qt. of oil. Dumb. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: WHAT? Is OP going to post again and fess up or just hope that this thread goes away? I previously posted pics of the engine oil drain plug and manual transmission drain plug for that vehicle. Which one did you let drain out?

I hope he's taking his time finding a pic of the neighbor .....

This happened in a garage I worked in. A coworker drained a Subaru trans, overfilled the engine, and replaced the top mounted filter.
As far as I know the customer left, came back with serious issues, and correcting the fluids seemed to fix it. I dont believe the customer came back with a roasted trans in six months. |
