Just buy the water spout kits and drill a hole in the handle for the vent.

Seriously, arfcom loves to overcomplicate gas cans. The stupid plastic red ones with the above modification work fine and are way cheaper than metal cans or the VP racing cans

Either find some pre-ban gas cans, or stop buying gas cans all together, and buy "fluids containers".

Hahaha.  I figured it’s been done a bunch of times, but I thought the search function was disabled.

Been on a generator out here the last two days and these gas cans are pissing me off. ??

You can’t just pour the gas like the good old days.  Nope...

Imagine instead of taking a cap off of a spout and pouring gas into a generator, lawnmower, etc like it used to be in the good old days...you had to hold it over the generator with your right hand (with a handle not allowing for a decent pouring position) while operating some contraption with your left hand to get gas to come out.  And when the gas does come out it never flows, it glugs and splashes all over the place.

Fucking yay.

Get the fuck outta here.

Anyone who has used a post ban gas can knows they are aggravating pieces of shit.

I’m sure you could be happy standing over a lawnmower or your gas powered real doll slowly sloshing gas into the tank, but I have shit to do and putting gas in the tank used to be a simple, fast operation.

There are some advantages to these.  Example, boating where you would not want a metal can banging into fiberglass.

The metal "Donkey Dick" is an important part of the solution.

The other one with a rubber connecter, that rubber part comes off in my vehicle spouts and has to be yanked out with pliers.

For most people, a 1.25 gallon no-spill is the best answer. If you are trying to stockpile fuel, no, but if you just need if for lawnmowers, snowblowers, weed eaters, etc, that is your best solution. I have two, one for pure gas, the other with 50:1 premix.

Are those the GELG cans sold by Jerry Can? How long you been using them?

I've been kicking around the idea of buying some since I bought a couple of EU2200's a couple of months ago. I've been using plastic VP Racing jugs for years, but I never store fuel in them, only for transport for dirt bikes. Now I'm looking for metal cans that I can safely store for maybe six months at a time before rotating it out.

The No-spill 2.5 gal cans are great for small engine stuff like generators and mowers. No-spill makes generic branded ones for Walmart, they're like 17 dollars. They self vent through the nozzle like the jerry cans, and the push button and the angle of the nozzle just makes it easy.

ETA
A tip on adding vents. The plastic flip open vents are readily available and are better than improvised options. Use a spade wood type drill bit, they cut a smoother hole in the plastic than twist bits.
