I like French Vietnamese sandwiches - but it is hard to argue with a Pastrami Rubin (yes I know, it should be corned beef, but pastrami is better) on Rye.

Wrong! A proper Reuben is the Emperor of cold sandwiches.
Second place goes to Bahn Mi |

tuna fish with hardboiled egg mixed in and some spicy sliced pickle on a fine slice of bread is damn near brown bag heaven..

The best cold sandwich is thick cut bologna and yellow mustard.

Quoted: LOL, best cold sandwich? That unarticulated mess of low grade ingredients? Good lord. The best cold sandwich is a Vietnamese cold cut Banh Mi with real pate, butter, pickled vegetables, cilantro, etc. That nonsense you just showed everyone is terrible. Merry Christmas, throw that plastic wrapped crap out and buy your wife a Banh Mi. She'll give you extra good loving. View Quote Attached File |

Quoted: Nothing says great sandwich like presliced, packaged cheese. View Quote @Jeepsnguns81 Serious question cause maybe im not in the know. What is the difference between pre sliced and sliced at the deli counter. Id bet big money your big box grocery store is sourcing their cheese from mass produced vendors. Less you got some bad ass home brew artisan Cheese set up. If you got that i want to see it as that is DOPE as hell. But lets not pretend the stuff they are cutting for you is some artisan made thing vs something they had pre sliced. |

What do you know about sandwiches, you’re from goddamn New Jersey!
Charlie wants Bánh Mì! Or, a real Italian. That “sandwich,” isn’t. |

I was born in Va and live in NC.. i just married a NJ refugee. Pistols at dawn MFer. ETA. to be clear.. NJ knows Italians, Reubens, Kosher and every cold cut known to man.. the only thing in a sandwich they cant handle is a south Florida Cubano. Tread carefully. |

Seems like grilling it would make it better…why cold. Even an Italian is better with lightly toasted bread

Quoted: Seems like grilling it would make it better…why cold. Even an Italian is better with lightly toasted bread View Quote Honest question. Its better when the vinegar and other liquids soak into the bread. Its sloppy as shit. Hence the sloppy. If you are grilling, a Rueben would be a far better sandwich. |

I mean, they're wrong but it's interesting to see a different interpretation of the name. This is a Sloppy Joe. If you google Sloppy Joe these are the first 8,787,870 pictures that show up! |

I'm guessing south-ish Jersey
It's not bad, but the general Italian is probably better I miss good bread, but I was happy to find pork roll at Teeter |

If you disagree you are just Fucking wrong. View Quote I'd try it. I like regular white bread, mayo with chipotle chollula all over it, slice of american cheese on each side and two slices of beef bologna, add some tositos int he middle for crunch and yeah. |

Tie between 2.
Italian from Colombino’s in west palm beach Italian from Old westbury deli on Long Island. Honorable mention: Dagwood from Anderson’s deli. OP’s looks great but that ain’t a sloppy Joe and it ain’t an Italian so… |

Looks pretty good, BUT...just co-opting the Sloppy Joe title seems like some wack NJ bullshit.

Seriously? Two pages and nobody knows what the best cold sandwich is?
MEATLOAF !!!!! In my house, meatloaf is made specifically for use as sandwiches for the following few days. Additionally, if you need a "recipe" to make a damn sandwich, you might just as well cook a meal. A sandwich is supposed to be simple and quick, not a big production. |

Quoted: Bacon and home grown tomatoes on whole wheat toast. View Quote When we went on family trips my mom made tomato sandwiches, just tomatoes from the garden sliced on white bread with Duke's mayonnaise, salt, and pepper. Wrapped them in waxed paper and put them in the cooler with the RC colas. By lunch time they were perfectly nearly-soggy. Man, those were the days. We don't get enough sun at our place to grow proper tomatoes. |
