One of my techs was going around yesterday showing everyone in the shop his lab results that indicate he has low testosterone. Then at lunch time he wanted to go home because he said he was "very tired" because of it.
He has a history of milking bullshit like minor injuries to stretch out things like short term disability and he has been caught lying to us before about all sorts of things. The guy definitely is well below average in the IQ department, as well. He has just barely managed to not be fired, mainly because he has a good attitude. Also, we need someone for menial tasks (just like everyone does). I dont want an experienced tech driving trucks for deliveries, lugging around heavy shit, or just being a dumbass helper when they were hired for their brains, not their backs. Is low T a legitimate excuse for multiple / long term absences? Thats where this is going, I know it. |

A straight shooter with upper management written all over him (Office Space HD) |

It’s his PTO and you’re not a doctor.
Don’t get into the reasons if you’re the manager. Just document. |

You may just want to send him home anyway. It’s “his” time of the month.

Maybe he's looking for someone to "inject" some vitamin Big D into him and try to absorb it subcutaneously.

Lots of woman have low t and they work also. Maybe he is a woman.

I've given guys 6 months to get their hormones checked, controlled etc when the were a fat body (in the army) with low T but never a day off.
None of them ever lost the weight they needed. |

No, not a valid reason to leave work.
Idiots always find the dumbest reasons to not do something, they can't even help it. The questions become: is he worth the work he does? Is the unreliability/irregular schedule an issue? If you have tasks that aren't remotely time sensitive, then all is well. If you find you start saying things like "we have all the material to paint the hallways but Goofy called out because he cannot find any left shoes" then fire him. |

Only if you’re in the porn industry. I worked for years with low T. Sure, I had no drive. But I went to work.
I had a guy like your guy. God was he ever a pain in the ass. Made retirement that much sweeter. |

I called in sick one time — because I couldn’t find muh shoes
|
|
No but if he's got the sick\PTO then whatever, let him use it up.
You're not one of those employers that demand a doctor's slip like in grade school are you? |
|
Low T can definitely make you feel bad enough to call in sick. It's very treatable and no reason for long-term or excessive absences.
|
|
You’re getting what you want and his IQ might be just fine. He seems to be getting what he wants.

It's actually kind of funny
"I'm tired. Think I'll go home now." |

These damn kids are as useful as a lifetime membership to Blockbuster video.

Plenty of techs looking for work nowadays...
Got one tech at my shop that avoided certain tickets by hiding in the bathroom for 30 mins Told him that if you're going to be in there for that long without a doctor's note stating that you regularly shit 20 foot python turds, then you need to clock out. He stopped pulling that shit immediately ?? I know it's hot AF right now but don't feed me a line of bull Take the breaks that you're entitled to, man Probably encourage your Low T Man to take some PTO himself to deal with his issue |
|
If hes got PTO then who gives a fuck why. Just run his time and move on.
|
|
I'm pretty sure my female coworkers have lower T than this asshat, and they seem to manage to work.

No, not even remotely a good reason.
Can’t say I’m surprised though. We had a guy a couple years ago that wanted a week off when his dog died. That makes about as much sense. |

wait till he finds out about tiktok new trend of "Time Blindness"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That is the most 2023 shit ever. What a complete loser.
Maybe I have functioning penis privilege, but I really get the impression that "low T" is to people on the quasi right as "metal health" is to people on the left. I'm not saying some people don't have low T. I'm saying that the supply doesn't meet the demand. |
