Hamas saying they're willing to talk truce is probably a ploy if true because when israel goes after them endlessly, hamas is hoping the international community will pressure israel to stop and talk. Almost every war has a side waving the white flag then tricking them.

This is from Bloomberg:
U.S. Can't Easily Meet Israel's Requests for Ammo, Official Says The U.S. expects Israel to request more munitions from Washington imminently, though the U.S. cannot easily meet all those requests, a congressional official said. Israel launched advanced U.S.-produced GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs over the weekend and is expected to seek more from the U.S., the official said. The U.S. also anticipates Israel will request small arms, ammunition, 122mm tank rounds and mortars, the official said. Providing Israel with enough Tamir interceptors for Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system "is the most worrisome," the official said. The US needs to shift our economy onto a war footing. We need to dramatically increase weapon production. |

US Strike group headed there now. Began a couple days ago.
How long does it take to get the group together? Or can they do this within a day? Also, why a large strike group? Did they have advanced notice this thing was going to be big? |

According to some interviews, there's several kibbutzim that have, essentially, been wiped out. Out of several hundred residents, 2/3 or 3/4 are dead or missing. Those communities simply won't recover. The standard kibbutz security teams were simply overrun, as the Hamas fighters outnumbered them 20 or 30 to 1. QRF teams from the security forces walked into unwinnable fights as well.
https://www.ynet.co.il/news/article/yokra13623020#autoplay "At 6:30 in the morning, a crazy volley of Qassams started," Danny said. "The noise was hell. At first I thought the Air Force was bombing Gaza. Gradually I realized that something else was happening, something big. In less than half an hour we started hearing gunshots inside the kibbutz. The terrorists arrived on motorcycles and vans with a heavy machine gun on top. Then one of the officers told me there were 90 terrorists. When they reached the gate, they killed the Rabbi and blew up a car. The kibbutz's standby squad left for the gate without the security coordinator who was killed. They were four-five against 90. They fought bravely but had no chance. Suddenly there was silence. At about nine o'clock, a force from a patrol of the Sheldag, about 20 fighters, arrived by helicopter. In a short time the force wore down, and then we only heard conversations in Arabic from the house. They went from house to house, entered the police stations, kidnapped the people or killed them. Sometimes they killed them all. Sometimes they took the children and killed the parents or vice versa. We realized that they were breaking into the MMD. We have an attic at home. We went up to it and locked ourselves in it." Danny and his wife and Ofer, the youngest son, were hiding in the attic. Dror, the eldest son, locked himself and his wife and children in their apartment in the MMD. "I built a barrier out of objects, hoping that it would hold the handle of the MMD door, and prevent them from entering," said Dror. "In the morning we peeked out," Danny said. "We saw that when the terrorists fail to open the doors, they set the house on fire. The smoke seeps in. People opened the window and jumped out, sometimes from the second floor. Children too."
