Germans seem to always be friendly towards the Palestinians.  I wonder if it's some kind of passive-aggressive latent resentment towards the Jews for making them feel guilty about the Holocaust.

One of the Army units (Tube Arty) kept running the same type of missions but started referring to them as "binary" missions.  Either the media didn't realize "binary" missions were the same thing OR the name wasn't as catchy, so we never heard any more about it.  Maybe the media in AFG had it in for the Marines, because it seem like they went out of their way to call out Marine units for stupid shit to make them out to be the bad guys.  Maybe someone in the media had their girlfriend serviced by some young strapping Marine who ate all his crayons on the way out the door?

Agreed - seems like this particular conflict has escalated to a much different level. Not that i want to see a military escalation, but frankly it is justified, and now is the time to end this. Bombing empty buildings isn't going to win this war. Do to these people what they have earned.

I would think it is more the Germans recognize the Israelis as a "peer" nation when it comes to military competence, and they know they will be able to use and maintain their weapons better than some Arab satrap or African dictatorship.

Selling advanced top-of-the-line weapons to King Mbumawabezuma, Blessed Lifetime Ruler of the Democratic Republic of Upper Ebola is probably not a good way to advertise your product.

Israel is not going to indiscriminately bomb Gaza or use a nuclear weapon. Israelis have been at this for 70 years. The name of the game is the Arab street. The existential threat to the Jewish homeland is not Hamas or Hezbollah. It is Iran and the Arab states and their publics. Arab (and Persian) regimes, politicians, and terrorist groups have been using Palestinians as a foil to redirect the anger of their own people for generations, creating an enormous potential for violence that persistently threatens both Israel and Arab governments. Israel has made great progress in normalizing relations with its neighbors over the last 20 years and defusing that bomb. The public relations outcome of a mass killing of Gazan civilians is a greater threat to the long-term survival of the state of Israel than Palestinian terrorism itself. That is Iran's intent with this operation, to stoke hate for Israel and destabilize Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, SA, Bahrain, UAE. So far the images coming out have repelled most normal people in the ME and around the world. Israel is going to do what it can to keep it that way while degrading Hamas as best they can. It has nothing to do with having the balls to "do the needful" or "taking the gloves off" or the silly domestic woke politics people here obsess over.

Ultimately destroying Hamas' capability to kill Israelis is going to mean men with rifles seizing and holding ground, just like every other fucking time. As soon as they let the pressure off the weapons and money will start flowing back in and the capability will be slowly rebuilt, unless and until the Iranian and Syrian regimes are gone - at minimum.

A second US aircraft carrier could be deployed to the east Mediterranean alongside another sent to the region after the attack by Hamas on Israel.

The USS Gerald R. Ford, the world's largest warship, has already been mobilized along with a carrier strike group that includes other warships and a fleet of fighter jets.

Military officials are now weighing whether to also send a second carrier strike group led by the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. The warship was already scheduled to visit the Middle East, but Pentagon leaders are now deciding whether it should accompany the USS Gerald R. Ford.

Placing both carriers and their accompanying ships in the eastern Mediterranean, close to the coast of Israel and the Gaza Strip, would amount to a massive show of force that would also serve as a deterrent against other groups who could join the conflict.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Sunday he ordered the Ford carrier strike group to be ready to assist Israel after the attack by Hamas that has left more than 1,000 dead on both sides.

The Norfolk, Virginia-based carrier strike group led by the Ford was already in the Mediterranean. Last week it was conducting naval exercises with Italy in the Ionian Sea. The carrier is in its first full deployment.

It is not clear whether the Eisenhower would replace the Ford or whether both strike groups would remain there as the conflict continue.

THIS is a really good example of what israel is up against in a lot of ways. dug in, allow the marines to get ashore. despite all kinds of bombing it didnt touch the japanese. and ALL the japanese on that island knew they were to die to the last man for the fanatical devotion to their emperor. okinawa is another example because civilians were involved. but iwo? a great example of what hamas has planned.

hamas and the palis are enjoying quite a bit of international support for their actions the past few days, thanks to a mixture of propaganda, stupidity, and pure evil.  Strategically, it doesn't make sense for those cells to go active now.  These sorts of fights have been going on a long time and rarely has any pali attempt at terrorism in USA been successful. I can't really remember any. Maybe that power grid shooting a few years back? Who knows.

The point is, the world is tacitly supporting them.  That support would be forced to go away publicly (although it would still be there) if all the sudden a bunch of cells activate and start killing women at bus stops, etc.

To kick those cells off would, I expect, take a full-blown war with Iran.

We turned those islands into worse than moonscapes, and still had massive death tolls to take them.

Because the japanese had burrowed in.

Hamas has too. For decades.

I'm not military anything, but I feel pretty safe saying that if you need to take and hold ground, that means infantry.

The one thing they werent able to do on Iwo and Pelileu is get to the tunnels and caves.  IDF has bunker busters and seemingly has a good idea where many of the tunnels and bbunkers are.  Much more able to deal with those sorts of fortifications.

I didnt say air power would end it as I have long been a proponent of large scale ground offensive to reconquer the area.

A ground invasion is much easier when you don’t care about civilians or buildings. IDF pushes East to West to the sea thru Gaza and cuts off large swathes of land. Once cleared err leveled you rinse and repeat..

That one IDF soldier in that first video had no clue/defensive posture. He got straight up smoked.

Well the bodies as shown in other clips seem to make sense now.

Russia has aided, incited and assisted Arab terrorists for many years. It is damn time to take care of the real bad guys. All measures should be taken to eliminate Russian inspired terrorism NOW! And if that means letting Ukraine off its leash. Then let them off now! There will never be an end to terrorism until Russia is rendered impotent!

WOW these ladies were lucky.

Huh. The responders look a little paramilitary, almost like they could be some sort of community response group in case of emergencies. One was definitely a woman, and she did seem to be directing the other two a bit. Almost goes hand in hand with that fake story going around about some chick getting her people geared up and then hunting down some terrorists.
