A lot of conditions that disqualify you for conscription at present could be waived during a national emergency. Being overweight for example, could be mitigated by sending the fatbodies to physical conditioning units with strict exercise and dietary restrictions until the recruit drops the flab. THEN, he can be sent to start initial training. Past drug use, minor physical ailments, education requirements, moral waivers due to arrest history, etc., could be waived as well. DoD will do what it has to do to meet national security / mission requirements. |
