"Republicans" are like a bunch of battered wives. They complain about the beating but when it comes time to press charges they "love him and just want him to stop beating them". And then he beats them some more.
McCarthy is a RINO first class, he lied and refused to fulfill promises he made to get the Speakership. Fuck him and everyone like him. |

Quoted: The republican speakers of the house, no matter how much he/she is in lock step, has been corrupted by something or someone into deal making instead of wielding the power and building a base of support within the party. McCarthey fell victim to the corruption instead of staying true or at least being transparent and building a coalition of support to whatever he thought should be done. it happened when trump was elected. obamacare was going to be repealed, promises from the speaker and the turtle never happened. i don't even think there was a vote. the republican leadership ran scared instead of making a plan to make it happen democrat speakers understand how to use the office View Quote There was a vote. The House passed it I believe. What happened in the senate was John McCain. He was the last to vote and scuttled it because they didn't have an actual plan to replace it. |

Quoted: Correct. He is a gift for the Democrats. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: He’s not the one that worked with the Dems to pass a CR with no solution to the invasion on our southern border. No, he's the one who torpedoed a better bill for a worse one. Because perfect is the enemy of good enough. Correct. He is a gift for the Democrats. Massie claims they had a bill cutting spending by 8% that included border security and Gaetz and 20 others voted it down:
He's also previously stated that Gaetz was instrumental in blocking the 12 different individual appropriations bills so that McCarthy couldn't get them to the floor or get them passed. In many of those votes, Gaetz voted alongside the Dems to obstruct legislation that the vast majority of Republicans agreed with (including no non-sense Conservatives like Massie and Chip Roy). Multiple GOP Reps have spoken out and said this was all about a personal vendetta by Gaetz. Gaetz didn't want McCarthy to be speaker and when McCarthy won he somewhat spiked the football. Gaetz has been working overtime to MAKE SURE McCarthy couldn't get bills passed and has used a variety of obstructionist tactics while claiming McCarthy isn't doing what he promised. I can't stand McCarthy. Is he a RINO? I don't think so. But, he's not particularly trustworthy or likeable. Regardless, McCarthy was kept in check by the Conservatives who actually wanted to see regular order, floor amendments, and less leadership control over the House. McCarthy has been held accountable and according to many Reps like Donalds, Roy, Massie etc he's kept his word. It was particularly interesting to me that camera whore Nancy Mace joined Gaetz in this vote. I have a difficult time believing Gaetz and Mace over the other names mentioned. Look at their records. Look at their publicity seeking ways. Look at the fact it's an open secret Gaetz is trying to launch a campaign for Governor in Florida and Mace has similar aspirations for higher office. I won't cry that McCarthy is gone. Don't like him. But, I think he was ejected for the wrong reason using tactics that were 100% backed by the Democrats. Some of you think "blowing things up" is the way to go. What you've forgotten is that the average voter disagrees. They're going to punish this kind of dysfunctional governance. The "outcome" of the budget battle is actually likely to be LESS favorable than if McCarthy had stayed. We're probably looking at an omnibus or another CR that includes no border security. It will also include Ukraine funding (which I'm totally fine with but many people here do NOT want). I truly think that GD watches too many movies and trusts too many people who tell them what they want to hear. If McCarthy has done such a bad job why did only 7 Republicans, other than Gaetz, agree? One of which was Nancy Mace! Why would every single Democrat vote for this if McCarthy has been doing their bidding and making secret deals with them? Makes zero logical sense. |

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: He's a sociopath. I agree. The GOP has a narrow majority. You need to make some compromise to get things done. This asshole will get nothing done because he won't get enough people to vote with them. On top of it the economy is in disaster, Biden is polling bad, and all this does is distract from that and make the Dems look good. McCarthy had the dems backed into a corner with the gov shut down and proceeded to agree to lose 0/100% in their favor. Then he made a back door deal on Ukraine, thats 0/150%. Perhaps when you're not as emotional, your husband or life partner can explain it. Oh, sorry your gal lost! Not so much Massie and others believe removing McCarthy means an omnibus is much more likely. What prevents a tiny group of RINOs or blue state Republicans from joining the Democrats and passing an omnibus? Absolutely zero. Politics is give and take. McCarthy, despite being a scumbag, was willing to work with blue state Republicans so they'd have cover with certain legislation they couldn't vote in support of. Now, the calculus has changed and all they will care about is their own political survival instead of any particular policy priorities or principles. If it takes voting with the Dems for an omnibus they'll do it. After all, Gaetz just set the precedent that a handful of Republicans voting with the entire Democrat caucus is completely acceptable, if not preferred! |
