You're a grown man correct? Yes, but im stuck between respecting my mother/elders and knowing whats best for myself. Has she ever caught you masturbating? Did she ever tell you to stop that behavior? Did you? LIAR! j/k |

Don't tell her you have a handgun?
You live on your own, so how would she know? |

You need to simplify your life. That means not having unhealthy relationships with people.

I don't mean to speak ill of a member's family, but if your own mother would really disown, fire, and have no further contact with her son because of an inanimate object, she's a damn sociopath.

WowPro, is that you? OP said he was buying a pistol not another trashcan gun that is taller than he is...but it could all be an elaborate ruse. I'm holding out hope it's WowPro. I mean, the stories are almost identical with the exception of the Trashcan gun. |

am of legal age and living on my own Do whatever you want. For fun, tell her she can disown you if she likes but then she'll never see her future grandkids. Why you that be for fun? If my mother ever threatened to disown me that would be my retort and I'd be 100% serious about it. |

About the time that Daddy left to fight the big war
I saw my first pistol in the general store In the general store, when I was thirteen Thought it was the finest thing I ever had seen So l asked if I could have one someday when I grew up Mama dropped a dozen eggs, she really blew up She really blew up and I didn't understand Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand The devil's right hand, the devil's right hand Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand My very first pistol was a cap and ball Colt Shoot as fast as lightnin' but it loads a mite slow Loads a mite slow and soon I found out It can get you into trouble but it can't get you out So then I went and bought myself a Colt 45 Called a peacemaker but I never knew why Never knew why, I didn't understand Cause Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand Well I get into a card game in a company town Caught a miner cheating I shot the dog down Shot the dog down, watched the man fall Never touched his holster, never had a chance to draw The trial was in the morning and they drug me out of bed Asked me how I pleaded, not guilty I said Not guilty I said, you've got the wrong man Nothing touched the trigger but the devil's right hand The devil's right hand, the devil's right hand Mama said the pistol is the devil's right hand |

Am I in before someone says something similar to:
"buy a gun and then tell your mom you'll come over and show it to her is she tries to write you out of the will." My first experience seeing a gun in action was in the hands of my mom. Some weirdos were bugging us in the house we rented. So she borrowed grandpas .357. I'm glad I have a poor mom who likes guns over a rich one who thinks they are "icky" good luck op. |

Show her USPSA vids and tell her you're going to be rich and famous.

If you are old enough to buy a guy what business is it of you Mom
Damn son sac up and be a grown up, aint like you have to run home and tell her... |

At this point he has to tell her he bought one. Its past the point of buying it and not telling her. If he buys and hides then she is still controlling him. This isnt about a gun, it is about control. This is your test OP. You either stand up and be your own man or show your mother she will always be able to control you with money. She will try to control who you marry, decisions about children, houses, etc. You have to stop this now. If she disowns you then the other poster was right, she will be disowning any future grandchildren. Her choice. Buy the gun, and tell her in casual conversation though, not in an argumentative sort of way. If she mentions disowning again, say that is her choice, but you will have to make some life changes if that is so. Let her wonder what they are.

I purchase a pistol... I am of legal age and living on my own.. Her logic is that pistols are used only in the killing of people.. what would GD do? No pics of mother. At least correct you mother. pistols don't kill, nor do any firearms. The people wielding them do.
Show her Chicago's homicide rate, counter with facts, explain how many lawful gun owners save their own or the lives of others ( including mothers) with handguns. Then invite her to the range. |

Tell her that you don't have a license to kill, just a learner's permit.
Else, her basement, her rules. |

You're a grown man, its none of her fucking business what you buy.
Give in to this and she'll be back for more control of your life later. |
