Quoted: there has never been a fun water level in any NES game oh, and Mega Man I with one of the Doc Wily bosses that disassembles and you dodge the parts only to reassemble on the other side - get one hit off - and then do the same thing over again 50 times can fuck right off View Quote As a hard core Mega Man fan.. The first game was brutally hard compared to the others.. But that boss isn't so bad after you figure him out, and have decent reflexes.. I think you use the electric gun on him, its like 6 hits i think or maybe 8.. I cant remember right now, but he's not THAT bad. |

One kid is playing that game solid for hours. I believe he was quite close to beating it and then... Some of us turned off the NES. He lost his shit! December in northwest Indiana... He runs outside in shorts and socks yelling and screaming. Of course the rest of us found it absolutely hilarious |

He'd leave the dam thing on all day just to show me he beat my big bass catch. Did same with silent service as well. An actual fun game and not as punishing. Operation wolf was a great one too for wearing out light pistols |

The concept is creepy too. Quest to go back in time and stop aliens from abducting your species. As a dolphin. |

Let them play Parsec on the TI-99/4a. That game was a b*tch.
But, yeah there were many NES games that were stupid hard. |

If you want a hard modern game I'd have to recommend Cuphead. It's not crazy or anything, but it definitely make you rage

Retro gaming for life. |

So when I was a kid I couldn't afford turtles for nes but I found I had enough for the comadore 64.
It used a fucking Atari controller with one button. You tapped it for melee and held it to jump. It was unplayable garbage. |

View Quote Jeebus.. I never realized how rushed and badly coded this game is... You cant even swim downwards due to bad coding! imagine the level designers thinking 'oh this will just perfectly challenging enough!' IF they could swim downwards then some programmer moves the downward code and it breaks it and now the levels are almost impossible to not take damage... just so bad.. Would be interesting to 'post mortem' this game with the original devs.. I'm sure it would be the same old 'we had 3 weeks to get this out and 6 weeks of bugs... we did the best we could' ... |

Give them Silver Surfer. That one will have them questioning the very nature of mankind.

One of my pet peeves is replaying video game sections against my will. I.E. I hate dying, unless it's in something like Arma or Borderlands. I was just playing Fallout using a mod that saves every 20 seconds and it still pissed me off
Every now and then I get an urge to fire up an emulator to play some classic Nintendo. Usually about 30 seconds later I remember why gaming sucked back then. |
|
Ha. Yeah, fuck that game growing up. Never made it past the water level.

Anyone ever played Kid Chameleon for genesis? It’s just a straight through, no option to save, I never beat it. It seemed impossible.

That free guy in mega man can be had in other ways. BAck in the day they made the games hard as shit so that kids wouldn't beat them in 2 hours and parents feeling like they blew the money. It kind of worked. But now games give out free trophy's for losing and i guess we are too used to that.. lol |
