How we spent our December 31. Three craft distilleries, all with in a 20 mile radius, went together to form a "State Line Tour". Visit all 3 for a tour and samples. At your last stop you'll receive a barrel stave to display your complimentary shot glasses.

Took a Couple Bourbons over To my buddy’s and he busted out a couple he had. Did some tasting and discussions, over all had a good time. This is the 2nd one of these we’ve done, and we plan on doing a lot more.

On a side note, the Michters is one of our least favorites, however mixed with Sprite, it’s not bad.

I do the same with a buddy of mine.
We did 5-6 different bottles for New Years.
Talking about doing a group of 8-10 guys with a bottle signup so we don’t end up with duplicates.
Much fun.

Much fun.
We discussed the same thing and having maybe a couple more friends who are into bourbon to join us each of us bringing a bourbon for everyone to try.
We also ended up kicking out the FourRoses and the Michters from the discussion due to the Michters not being either one of our favorites and us liking the other 4 better than the FRSB. We had a fun conversation about which of the 4 bourbons we would give to these 4 people and “Why”. The question is; These are the only 4 bottles of bourbon on the shelf and you have the one of each as a gift to the following(see below) 4 people and why do you choose them to buy that specific bottle of bourbon for.

1) The Boss, he’s a representation of a good boss you want to buy a nice gift for that has been drinking bourbon for years and loves and appreciate every aspect.

2) The Noob, he’s the guy who is some what just getting into bourbons and wants to explore and learn from each experience.

3) The Snob wanna be, this is the guy who lives the hype life. Thinks he has to drink what the magazines tell him to drink and snubs his nose at things that aren’t on “top10 lists”.

4) The Buddy, this is the guy you get together with and enjoy bourbon with on occasion and discuss them and share stuff together. He’s not too picky but will give you a hard time if you give him something that’s not to great, but will appreciate it none the less.

Thanks. Good hunting luck lead to some trade fodder this year. This was the product of a GTS + an OWA store pick trade.

It was not pulled off the market.  They will just have different labels with the next run.  I’ve seen hundreds of bottles on the shelf around here.

Picked this up tonight. Pretty good imo but lately the prices I have been seeing it for were just too much. This place had it at about the normal retail price so I couldn’t pass it up.

It's all over the place here. Half of the boxes have a sticker on them saying that it is not bourbon whiskey. I suppose at some point the ones that don't may be collectible but it's still Crown.

Yep.  Same thing with the 13 year blenders as well.  1/2 the boxes with the sticker.

Have you ever been to that store behind the parking lot for Blue River and Big Water, or whatever those two restaurants are down from the aquarium?

I went back on our anniversary in November. It was like getting lost in there, I enjoyed looking at the selection and the prices weren’t that bad.

You must be talking about Jax.

It used to be sort of a hole in the wall and they tore down the old building a built that place 3 or 4 years ago.

They do have a good selection and decent prices on some things.

They do have some crazy prices at times. They had some Weller Special Reserve a year or so ago and were asking $79.99 for a 750ml.

My score after a few days in Memphis for a meeting. I always go on a Bourbon quest in a new town. Found these at a store down on Second Street. Both are 1.75’s!

He also has about 5 Eagle Rare 1.75’s on the shelf. Good hunting.

Y’all check this out. 7 year old Old Fitz bottles in 1972, so that juice was distilled in 1965.

My buddy and I are not drinking that as those containers were made using a lot of lead and it gets in to the bourbon.

101 is sampled. While palette is cleansing the 117 is poured and breathing. 101 was ok. Little astringent on entry, higher ethanol burn than I would have expected from "just" a 101 proof, and lingers. It's good, but not great.

Big difference. Nose is softer, and it's more gentle on entry but, damn! The heat comes on and stays on. It's difficult to enjoy the flavor when you can't hold it in your mouth long enough for them to come out. I'll let this one sit for a few days and try again. If there's no change I'll add a couple of drops of water. I sense it's a winner.
