Agreed.

Red Bull and Ferrari are the two most anti-woke teams with Red Bull being the strictest at least while Dietrich was alive but I suspect Horner and Marko are cut from the same cloth.

I think Ferrari will let Lewis wear his gay flags but they probably won't let him pander to his mentally ill fans as much as he did at Merc.

Certainly gives creedence to Horner saying Hamilton approached him about driving for RB.

Me too. When I saw the news I thought it was a joke or more speculation.

It is not cheating to make a car that your best driver can drive well. It would be dumb not to do that.

Albon basically debunks this. He said something along the lines of Max basically has a computer mouse on max sensitivity settings and then asks for more sensitivity.

RB is making the fastest possible car and Max is able to push it to extreme limits. It's not designed for Max.

“The first thing is, a lot of people say that car is built around him, he’s kind of like the Michael Schumacher of Ferrari, he’s created this team around him,” began Albon as he discussed what it was like to be Verstappen’s team mate.

“Truthfully, the car is what it is, he is very quick, so what ends up happening is… He has quite a unique driving style, it’s not that easy to get along with.

“Everyone has a driving style, I would say my driving style is a bit more on the smooth side, but I like a car that has a good front-end, so quite sharp, quite direct. Max does too, but his level of sharp and direct is a whole different level – it’s eye-wateringly sharp.
“To give people kind of maybe an explanation of what that might feel like, if you bump up the sensitivity [on a computer game] completely to the max and you move that mouse and it’s just darting across the screen everywhere, that’s kind of how it feels. It becomes so sharp that it makes you a little bit tense.”

“What ended up happening was, especially during my year, you start off being a little bit behind, but not by much, and then as the season goes on, Max wants this front-end in the car, he wants his car to be sharper, sharper,”

“As it goes sharper and sharper, he goes quicker and quicker, and for you to catch up you have to start taking a little bit more risk. You might be a couple of tenths behind one session, just try a little bit more, ‘OK, I’ve gone off, I’ve had a crash’, and you’ve got to restart.

“Then you’ve lost a little bit of confidence, it takes a little bit more time, that gap is growing a little bit, and the next time you try and go out and do another job, [it’s] another spin or another whatever – it just starts to snowball. Every time the car becomes sharper and sharper, you start to become more tense.

He’s a POS. Went full woke. I was watching one of his videos back in 2022 and he mentioned Floridas “horrible don’t say gay bill”. When commenters called him on it one specifically asked “so you support children being taught about sex and choosing their gender?” And he said “yes”.

Think I have a screenshot. I unsubbed instantly.

I could only find 1 screenshot. He deleted a lot of his replies.

Excellet post and very humble of him.

That was always my read - yes a car makes a difference however you have to have the talent to take it to the Nth level. There is the 1% that formula 1 drivers are then there are the Tiger woods like drivers who are just on another level. I think the whole Tiger woods thing really illustrates the point - does he have better clubs than the average PGA tour guy - I am sure but if you handed #2 Tigers clubs would he all of a sudden be the winner? No. Its what hes able to make of it that is incredible. I was never a Tiger fan but his stats are just fucking incredible if you look into them. I saw one that gave one of Schefflers stats (#1  at the time) and he was rated at 6ht of all time for something. Tiger was #1 was nearly 2x as good. Spots 2-5 were also held by tiger.

As long as you have the instinct and talent to keep ahead of the car, it can be faster.

I think most F1 drivers with any experience recognize this is the Business.   It's like getting axed at the beginning of the season.

The teams will continue to do what's in their best interest (maximizing race outcomes, points and driver lineups); the Drivers will continue to maximize their income by shopping teams within the boundaries of their performance and contracts.

Bottas knew he was a Wingman when he took the job - I doubt he really cares what happens to Lewis on the other side of the paddock.

So basically, Max gets the setup he's most comfortable with - and the #2 driver doesn't.   If their styles don't match, the #2 driver is way behind and trying to change styles / preferences to catch up.

It's like not being able to fully adjust your seat position - it's a disadvantage.

And I think that's what I was talking about.   So "debunking the myth" ultimately confirms the myth?

Oh that would be wild.   But he had such success with AM, why change?   I can't see Merc throwing a bunch of money at Alonso instead of buying a cheaper new driver and getting him experience in the car.

When Hamilton gets on the radio this season to complain more than likely the response will be "I'm sorry, the person you're trying to reach has not set up the mailbox for this account. Goodbye".
"Oh look, Hamilton is coming in for tires."
"And?"
And Bottas will continue to laugh.

I think it will depend on where the teams are in the Championships.  If either Hammy or Sainz are leading, or more likely, them scoring max points are needed for the Constructor’s , they’ll get support.  While they’ll be shut out of developments for the 2025 cars, the teams still want to score as many points as they can in the 2024 season, and will do what it takes to make that happen, even if it means supporting some one who’s leaving,

I think Sainz will get the same support as he did last year.  Ferrari is dumping him, not the other way around, so there is no reason for Ferrari to not support him.  I think Hamilton will also get support, but Toto won’t be as inclined to take any shit from him.

I think putting Alonso in at Mercedes would be a very bad idea.  Alonso is a formidable driver, but he’s only happy when he has a teammate he can beat, and the team treats him as Number 1.  If those things aren’t true, Alonso is an agent of chaos.  I think Toto is too smart to want the drama that would come with a Russell/Alonso pairing.

I’m actually looking forward to seeing Sharl race Lewis head to head. It’ll be a put up or shut up season for both of them.

Kind of an illogical connection you’re making there, boss.

Listening to Horner as a source of truth about anything is listening to a man who has decided to live in their own reality distortion bubble and proselytizes it as truth and fact.

Give it a rest pal.  Its pretty obvious Lewis was shopping around to the top teams at this point.

I do not foresee myself ever being a fan of Ferrari irrespective of who’s behind the wheel.
Don’t own a piece of Ferrari swag and don’t much care to even when it was offered to me for free.

I was a Williams fan prior to AMG’s re-entry, especially during the JPM era, with light allegiance to McLaren during the Mika / Coulthard era.

I have drivers I like and teams I like. They don’t have to be one and the same. I tend to think most people track the same.  It’s great when they co-align, but that’s not always the case.

Buddy, you and I both well know Max and Lewis on the same team would never work. Prost / Senna all over again.
So why would he want to call Horner for a seat?
Horner indulges in pot stirring and reality distortion. You should know this by now.

But I guess when Max publicly said he wanted to drive the Mercedes about 5 years ago, that meant he was fishing for a seat with AMG, yeah?

Nature is healing, Melbourne will be the first race of the 2025 season.

To me, the season should always start in Melbourne and end in Brazil.

Funny coincidence;

The Hamilton / Ferrari story gets 100% coverage, burying Liberty Media betraying Andretti/Cadillac

Maybe a plan…maybe..?
