They've already tried.  It's like a punk threatening you after you bloodied his nose.  Russia fucked up big.  In a world where it didn't inherit the Soviet nuclear arsenal, Europe and China would carve it like a fat pig.

Excellent article on how the war in Ukraine has resulted in a need for US energy independence:

I can see international coalitions forming and air/naval things happening to guarantee free navigation of international waters, especially food, especially in light of what happens when food is disrupted (Arab Spring).

The entire world has an interest in those ships making it to their destinations.

Thought it is interesting that in Hungary and other places, ordinary Russians are feeling the effects as their cards don't know and they have no money and food.

Wife unit helped a Russian couple get to their embassy in Budapest and also helped them get gas and food for their daughter and themselves.

I told her to give them 100 euros.

They look like a typical European couple but one can see that they are just as stressed and feeling helpless.

I hope they end up being ok but with their bank cards not working and their cell phones shut off...
I wish them good luck.

That's because it was an escalation they were not willing to undertake.

Now they have publicly warned the west again--so watch for it to happen.

It's not Russian owned, it's a Russia-friendly Kremlin amplifier. The owners father was a state-friendly journalist in Communist Bulgaria.  Multiple analyses of content on Zerohedge have demonstrated that it propagates Russia friendly stories through its content referrer network much more often than other sites. That could be due to the owner's Russia-friendly bias, or it could be due to an arrangement.  The problem with these alt-news sites is that they lack any transparency, have no editorial oversight and no publicly available owner or interest data. At least with shills like WaPo and the NYT, they are transparent enough that you know which interests they are pushing.

This is just complete crap. None of that is true.

You sure? This is the source:

https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/research_reports/RR2200/RR2237/RAND_RR2237.pdf

ETA: Published in 2018 at the direction of the Trump DoD - "This research was sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Rapid Reaction Technology Office and conducted within the International Security and Defense Policy Center of the RAND National Defense Research Institute, a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, the Unified Combatant Commands, the Navy, the Marine Corps, the defense agencies, and the defense Intelligence Community."

Absolutely certain. That chart is complete nonsense. And, it comes from the leftist group "PropOrNot Team", not the Rand Corp. In case you are unfamiliar with the way ZeroHedge works (which clearly Rand wasn't), they have both original content which they have under the byline pseudonym "Tyler Durden" and they also have guest articles from a variety of contributors (including those on the right).

Enough thread slide. Believe what you wish.

So, in other words, you like Zero Hedge and, because of your personal investment in it, don't want to accept that it's not what you thought it was.

And it's not a thread slide. Once again, we're discussing Russian propaganda, which they view as one prong of their military doctrine, and it's outlets. It's fully on topic.

https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/102941/81F17490-B709-42FF-B5AB-2E03B119D399-228-2305506.JPG

No, I'm saying you are completely wrong and have indicated why that is so. You can choose to accept you are wrong or can continue in your ignorance. It has nothing to do with Russian prongs of their military doctrine which we already know includes lies, deceit, misinformation, and propaganda. BTW, in my estimation, the Russians are currently failing in that part of their military every bit as much as their forces in Ukraine.

Your only indication of my being incorrect amounts to  "Your pictures are nonsense and PropOrNot is leftist because I said so, so what you posted is wrong". It's pretty much all there in this quote chain.

Given that, who do I accept as more accurate... Some rando on the internet that says "take my word for it" or a widely regarded think tank the US DoD hires for research on matters vital to national security? Real tough choice there...

By the way, congrats on being able to clear through a 149 page, fully annotated, study in just 21 minutes when the approximate reading time of it is around 3 hours!

What drivel. I provided the information that the chart being touted as being produced by the Rand Corp was not. Further, I explained why the leftist PropOrNot chart was misleading by explaining the difference between articles written by other authors, including those on the right, and the indigenous writers within the web site. Further, 30 seconds of looking would have told any competent person why trusting the PropOrNot team would be a bad idea: PropOrNot's grandiose fabrications and Even the WaPo doesn't believe them and The Intercept article

As I said previously, you can remain ignorant if you so choose. I'm done discussing this topic.

At no point was the chart "touted" as being RAND produced. It's pretty clearly labeled as to where they sourced the data (in those annotations I mentioned). Are you saying RAND is incapable of vetting the information it includes in its own studies?

As an aside, your using one of the listed sites as an ostensibly objective refutation of said study is beyond laughable - "We have investigated ourselves and cleared ourselves of any wrongdoing."

More drivel. I've pointed out (with receipts) where you are wrong. Sucks to be you. Now back to the purpose of the thread.

Believe I heard on news(?) that China is trying to replenish their swine population, which was supposedly larger than rest of world's combined, due to it having a big die off from disease. Apparently it takes great quantities of food stock to feed the new ones. Not a pig farmer so I don't really know.

Not sure if posted, but it shows Ka52 doing multiple gun runs before getting hit by manpad and then going down but successfully landing in a field. Happened near the start of the war. Pro-Russian channel so be warned.

Telegram Link

Translation:

from the Russian Ministry of Defense: shooting the Ka-52 and Mi-24 from the first person while escorting columns and ensuring security during the landing at the airfield in Gostomel.

In the process of completing the task, the Ka-52 was hit when it covered the Mi-8 with a tactical assault force with its side.

The leader's helicopter was fired upon by MANPADS from the ground and anti-aircraft guns 18 times. Having received damage, the crew made an emergency landing and took up all-round defense, which they held despite the continuous fire impact of the Armed Forces of Ukraine until the arrival of the second strike group of helicopters.

The crew of the damaged helicopter was not injured and was evacuated to the base airfield by the second strike group of helicopters. Thanks to the courage and heroism of the crews of the forward strike group of Ka-52 and Mi-24 helicopters, the landing of the airborne units was carried out without losses.

Geolocation at 01.05 — the helicopter is operating on the northern outskirts of Gostomel.

I sincerely doubt that anyone will do anything about it. Millions will starve, and the global oligarchy will turn a blind eye, and the western press will cover for them, and as long as the woke military industrial money laundering corruption train keeps chugging along, no one will care. Including the hand wringing isolationists on this forum. Making sure the world is fed is very important to global stability and prosperity,  but I'm afraid that there is no leadership with enough foresight and fortitude to get involved in any meaningful way. In the meantime, let's keep making fuel out of our food supply.

He *may* eventually take Ukraine by numbers and brute force alone. Only to find that occupation is worse by ten fold.  How in the hell is he supposed to project forces into Poland or the Baltics, knowing it turns into a cockfight with NATO?   If he tries this shit again, it will probably be Moldova or Georgia.   let him commit and bleed them dry.

They don’t have a 1:1 for the 1 star rank, so in a way yes some are flagged as COL but performing as a General in their role.

And possibly the part where human nature ensures that nothing is ever enough. People be all like, "All I want is X, and I'll be completely satisfied, and if you don't give me X, I will go crazy ape bonkers with a drill and sex, believe that happy crappy!"

And Chamberlain type soy betas be like , "Oh shit, don't do that! Here, have all the X, just don't hurt us! Do I have my butt cheeks spread wide enough? You promise to go away and never come back if I let you do this, right?" and as soon as the bully in question has his X, he wants more. It's nearly a certainty. I mean, the historic exceptions are nearly nonexistent as far as I know.

Without snark or a hint of sarcasm, I'd love to hear about any exceptions you are aware of, because I've looked kind of hard and haven't found any yet.

Unless Russia wants war with the rest of the West,  they aren't touching weapons convoys.  C17 and other cargo planes heading into Poland would be carrying the weapons.  Plenty of NATO assets to defend these as well. Russia has limited ability to even hit these convoys and airlifts.  I also question their ability to hit them with any consistancy once in Ukraine.  I hope our forces are smart enough to switch up border crossings and routes. Russia hasn't been able to do anything in western Ukraine except lob an occasional missile.  They would need real time info on what is crossing and where.  They ain't touching shit unless it is already in play in Eastern Ukraine.

More than just a 21st century version of the domino theory. There's a shitload of nuclear and would be nuclear tinhat shitbags waiting in the wings to see how it goes.

You think North Korea isn't watching this shit with baited breath?

Ukraine war: Russia blocks ships carrying grain exports

They can't seriously expect to get away with this for very long.

We need to stop using food for fuel.

I can see international coalitions forming and air/naval things happening to guarantee free navigation of international waters, especially food, especially in light of what happens when food is disrupted (Arab Spring).

The entire world has an interest in those ships making it to their destinations.

I used to think that, and I still am completely aware that it takes about 1.25 qts of oil Btus to make 1.0 Btus of ethanol, so it's paying more for less however you slice and dice the numbers, but it's not really impacting the food chain here. The still bottoms are fed to cattle and other livestock and it's premium fattening feedlot chow, so there's not any waste, it's all converted to beef, pork, chicken, et al, and manure eventually. The waste is all the fossil fuel used to make the sugars into usable fuel. making ethanol does not affect the protein content of the mash grains, only the sugars.

I told her to give them 100 euros.

They look like a typical European couple but one can see that they are just as stressed and feeling helpless.

I hope they end up being ok but with their bank cards not working and their cell phones shut off...
I wish them good luck.

China warns of 'worst in history' winter wheat crop

They're also trying to rebuild their ginormous pork herd (the vast majority of their protein) after they had to kill most of it due to African Swine Fever.  The herd is mostly rebuilt, but they never successfully eradicated Swine Fever, so there's every chance it will happen again.  Also they're experiencing fertilizer shortages, and the coal shortage this winter closed many greenhouses.  Also they've got Avian Flu outbreaks in their ducks and chickens, with some human infections.  Also a long running electricity and diesel fuel shortage.

They bought most of the world's exported grain over the past few years and squirreled a lot of it away, and recently have been advising their people to store food for SHTF.  China is very obviously worried about feeding itself.

They are sometimes corporal captains, but I always write down one opposed, one against, in the officers club.
