My guess is there's some accounting trickery with regards to NATO spending commitments that is one of the motivators.  Perhaps double counting value? As in counting the value against commitment when they put those into service originally, then counting that same value again when donating to Ukraine?

We'll see when NATO commitment spending comes out in a couple of years.  I suspect we'll see a dramatic spike.

I'm leaning towards "B", with the news of the NATO decoy drone used in the Luhansk strike. It appears were are dialing up our EW games with them and screwing with their head.

An active radar relies on a strong enough return signal from the target.  If there's no bounce off a target, the signal keeps going out until dissipated.  RU can pickup these signals

Arms export is a significant industry for the Swiss.  In fact, it's the only way for that industry to survive since the Swiss doesn't have a large enough military to support it. Their neutrality nowadays is more marketing/image.

🪖 Bakhmut direction

In the Ivanovo Forest area, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to pressurize the residents of Wagner from three directions.

It has been clarified that three strongholds in the forest belts have been released. It was recorded that they advanced further along the landings
Wagner's pressure on the private sector continues in the city itself, there are no changes today
In the area of the O-0506 road, the Podars fled from their positions under the pressure of the Armed Forces. Two Urals were destroyed.

More than ten strongholds were liberated, and the most important thing is that the Armed Forces occupied key heights for which the Podars had been fighting for more than a month
The flanks are falling, at the moment one of the only things the beauty is right about

It would be awesome if this event lures out some of the black sea fleet so they can hit them with storm shadows.

I think another aspect that overall the west has forgotten is that in a PvP fight, losses are a given.  Even serious losses.  The Russians (mostly) aren’t goatfuckers and they are capable of being extremely dangerous opponents.

If it was BOTH, that indicates lack of maintenance/spare parts is really reaching critical levels, or the Ukrainians have moved a Patriot battery to somewhere within the vicinity. Even in Russia, it is a bit unusual for multiple aircraft to start falling from the sky at the same time.

I'm no expert on MIG-29s, but a quick Google search tells me they can carry 400 gallon external centerline fuel tanks.

400 gallons of JP-8 weighs 2680 pounds.

Goggle also tells me a Storm Shadow weighs 2900 pounds.

So 400 gallons of jet fuel plus the weight of the fuel tank is going to be very close to what a Storm Shadow weighs.

It could have been picked to be a suitable trial run of the Storm Shadow in Ukrainian hands.

-suitably far enough behind the line
-probably non-insignificant ADA coverage in the area

No doubt the location probably had significant military value, but maybe they really wanted to see what the new weapon was capable of.

🪖 Bakhmut shade!

The enemy lost even more positions not only east of Stupochky, but also south of Ivanovsky. According to preliminary data, the presence of the enemy in the Stupka tract is maintained. Judging by the personnel and the statement of the military leadership of the Russian Federation, the Katsaps fled from the area of Z.P. 40th km. The enemy was pushed back from the heights of 199.4 and 186.6. The situation in the forest at an altitude of 199.5 is unknown. At point 181.0, the presence of the enemy is maintained. The situation near Bilogorivka (D) has been clarified. With the help of tanks, the Katsapas managed to make some progress towards Spirny from the east.

Despite the retreat of the troops from the flanks of the Bakhmut ledge, it is still too early to rejoice. The situation is difficult, the media publicity is significant, so the Katsapas will use reserves to stabilize the front. The only question is to achieve maximum results by that time. Battles are taking place in Bakhmut itself, but it is not yet possible to specify the LBZ. We understand that everyone wants to quickly see news from the front, but this is not the case when prompt coverage will help someone.

Wow, two copters and an SU all shot down over Bryansk.  For them to all be friendly fire would be a stunning level of incompetence even for Russia.  It seems unlikely that the Ukrainians would risk Patriot so close to the border.  Could it be extended-range AMRAAM fired from Mig-29s?

I think the appearance of Patriot has allowed them to push the NASAMs or one of the other modern NATO systems closer to the front line.

Given the level of corruption up and down, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the lucky ones that make it to medical care are those who have some connections, or can bribe their way to it.

Or, being captured by the AFU and receiving real medical care?

Possible but with the front line relatively static that is unlikely for most.  Most probably die in their foxholes within a few days of being wounded and denied evacuation.
