https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GH5RE17WAAAf9Et?format=png&name=medium It can be stated that BECs have shown their highest efficiency, and accept that at the moment large ships cannot effectively resist BECs. Speed, night, stealth and the number of BECs participating in the attack solve issues with thermal imagers and additional fire weapons on board and in general with everything. I don’t know what conclusions can be drawn other than the fact that now it is necessary to accept this fact, move all large ships beyond the effective range of BECs, close mooring areas with engineering means to prevent BECs from damaging ships at the berths, transfer the tasks of the Black Sea Fleet to small and high-speed boats and boats type "Raptor", submarines and aircraft. Well, it’s natural to speed up cutting your BECs. Along the way, around the clock testing somewhere in Vladivostok various options for defensive weapons, detection, guidance and electronic warfare equipment on existing Navy ships, endlessly simulating BEC attacks in practice. I repeat, repeat. Today we need to simulate not attacks by submarines of a hypothetical enemy, but attacks by high-speed, small-sized targets with television guidance. Well, for the best, all this should be done, as usual, yesterday. https://t.me/fighter_bomber/15897 View Quote It is amazing to see them think that since they can't handle unmanned surface vessels at night with their ships, that no one can. We've been destroying Houthi unmanned vessels, drones, and cruise and ballistic missiles without any damage to our warships for months now. |

The Main Intelligence Directorate spoke about the loss of personnel as a result of the attack on the ship "Sergey Kotov"
According to preliminary data from the department, the occupiers suffered 7 permanent losses and another 6 sanitary losses. Another 52 crew members were probably evacuated. The Main Intelligence Directorate added that it is likely that the sailors rescued from the ship will now be “sailed” by the Russian special services. https://t.me/uniannet/127428 The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will purchase 20 thousand drones for the first time through the Prozorro system The department reported that the total expected cost is almost UAH 3 billion (excluding VAT), and the delivery time for BPAK is until May 31, 2024. The following complexes are planned to be purchased: 👉 DJI Mavic 3E - 15 thousand units (expected cost - 2 billion and 500 thousand UAH); 👉 DJI Mavic 3 Thermal - 5 thousand units with an expected cost of 989 million UAH. https://t.me/uniannet/127429 OKKO treats military personnel at frontline filling stations: 4.6 million servings of coffee and 2.7 million hot dogs in 2 years Since March 2022, OKKO has been serving free coffee and hot dogs to military personnel at its filling stations in frontline regions. Over these 2 years, more than 4.6 million servings of coffee/tea and 2.7 million hot dogs were prepared for them. The program operates at 56 gas stations in 8 regions - in Donetsk, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kherson, Sumy, Nikolaev and Chernigov. Let us remind you that according to NV Business, the network is among the top 10 companies in Ukraine in terms of the volume of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and financial support for other humanitarian projects. OKKO has already allocated 1.5 billion hryvnia for these needs. In addition to the “Warming the Defenders” program, the company transfers significant funds to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with weapons and equipment. https://t.me/uniannet/127433 |

I’m skeptical of this and tend to think they attack in a set order, and the first wave operators just aren’t leading ship’s course enough, so they invariably get pulled into a “pursuit curve” attack that finishes going right up the wake. Yes, that might cripple the ship, at which point the remaining operators have an easier time leading the ship and hitting broadside. But I tend to think that overall it’s a sub-optimal outcome. The other benefit is with the 5 drones claimed to have been used, it amounts to 1.25 million dollars, against a 50+ million dollar Russian ship. Harpoon Block II is around the same price, but if what you have works, it works. |

My BIL was in the Marines, and he told me they were trained to place a thermite grenade on the engine block of a vehicle they wanted to destroy in the field. It is also rumored that Russia used a thermite grenade dropped from a drone to blow up an ammunition depot in Lithuania ? years ago. |

A good point, notice that this is the Russian idea of having adequate air defense on a Corvette nowadays. You really don't want to use land based air defense systems on naval platforms, because they aren't stabilized for the roll and pitch of the ship. Their radar systems also are not optimized for working over water.
The #Russians planned to deploy an air defense system on the ship "Sergey Kotov" - #GUR There had already been successful attacks on the ship, but it was restored. This time “Sergei Kotov” was definitely destroyed, said Andrei Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. https://t.me/Pravda_Gerashchenko/88763 💬 “The enemy had plans for him. In addition to the patrol boat itself, there were also plans to place anti-aircraft missile systems on the ship itself, and there have already been such attempts. There are dead and wounded. Part of the crew was able to evacuate, so the exact information is being clarified,” Yusov said. The cost of such a vessel is more than $60 million. “Sergey Kotov”, together with the cruiser “Moskva”, took part in the attack on Zmeiny Island. |

Would something like a Javelin be effective on these sea drones? Or a drone dropped bomb/kamikaze? Seems like their detecting them sometimes, but machinegunning them.
